I believe the Track Packs have the same song structure as RB1 songs, so I guess they would be compatible.

On the topic of animation, I guess I don't really get to look at the band members while I play, but people who watch me play would probably find it boring to have the same camera angle and character animation all the time... I guess the most important animation is having a zoom on specific characters when they're in a particular section of the song (aka solos or other such parts).

P.S. On a completely different subject, I love the fact that most of the game is pretty much like the "real" versions of RB2 (360 and PS3), but I kinda miss the crowd singing with me, which is about the only feature that's missing, apart from achievements since there's no such thing on the wii.

That's why the mail goal is to allow customs for the Wii version of RB2 since customs is not possible on the 360 or PS3 version, yet.

You can have what ever you want. I assume you could probably take the same song from the xbox 360 version of RB1 and import to RB2 for Wii which would still have the crowd tracks or you could simply merge the crowd track with the regular vocal track if the Wii version supports a limited amount of tracks.

Hey Ice, I've been making DLC customs the waaaaaaaaaay old way (eg, DOS, no GUI).
Will the GUI ask for locations of files and replace, or simply install files to the Wii/SD Card?

It simply installs files to the Wii/SD card. Just on Sunday night I got it to the point where you just give it an MP3 and a note chart .mid and it does the rest (though there are still some issues, we haven't found out why customs won't work in quickplay yet). So customs are close, and exports work really well.

Then why wouldn't you release a "light" version of the app so people can actually export their track packs and/or RB1 songs? That wouldn't be too hard to disable some functions and just keep the exporter!
I can export my songs (even if they keep the name of the song I overwrite) so I don't really care but this would avoid a lot of "when is it comming??"

Well anyway you're the boss here and I understand that it will be released when it's ready. I was just giving my opinion.

There's still a lot of stability testing to do, and some other core features to work on besides just getting the customs working. The main thing is stability though, since I haven't had much time recently to try it out with too many saves. There's probably a 10% chance that it will just corrupt your save, or maybe I'm just crazy and the times it crashed for me was due to something other than corruption

(Either way that means it needs more testing; like I said before, anyone who would dump their savegame or just get isfs/title/00010000/535a4145/data/rockbnd2.dat from FTPii for us would be very helpful)

In fact "when does it come out?" is answered on the website which is linked in the first post of this thread. Anyone who asks it here will be ignored (if they're lucky) or ridiculed.

The more time spent on it, the better it will be.

By my calculations using the "dumb" decryption method would mean the possibility of a corrupt save would be (no. of chunks-1)/256. It would be significantly less if you took into account which values were commonly found at the end of chunks, and even less still when combined with the .dtb start search method.
In fact in that case the probability should be 0, since if the start of the .dtb isn't found no modifications should be attempted.
So I guess you're not talking about the chunk issue at all and I'll just be quiet now.

Don't worry about us making fun of scores, there's a reason I was playing bass (on hard while the others were expert) in the enter sandman vid

I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol

I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.

Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol

I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
