I have a very simple question

A lot of exploit hosts also have an update blocker option.

I'm not near my ps4 at the moment, but if you check the threads that list exploit hosts you're sure to find one that will have the update blocker.

This prevents the ps4 from downloading the updates in the future.

that's the fun part, you don't. Sony downloads updates anyway (even if you set the option off) as long as you're connected to the internet, so if you miss click it's over

So we can't have the option to download updates whenever we want anymore. Thank goodness I've skipped using Playstation.

Not to say that I am free though because Windows also has a tendency to do that with Windows 11

Windows 10 kind of forces u to update also you can still chose when or even if but it kind of just appears sometimes and you can accidentaly click it also even if you dont have a playstation look at what they did to helldivers 2 on pc

Yes. I suggest modding your PS4 with GoldHEN. DO NOT update the console as it will prevent exploits from running again.

And Flow, much like smealum and others before him, is an industry rat and attention seeker. Nothing gets revealed if it is currently useful, so if any exploits are known, he already told Sony so we'll never have GoldHEN on a version with PSN access. Wonderful in the generation where 50-75% of the games are locked behind DLCs. :)

Yes but imagine the plague of cheaters ruining PSN for everyone else.

Fuck that.

All five of them? Cheaters happen anyway, bad netcode is a bigger issue and people pay money hand over fist to support that. They pay for their internet to pay for PSN access to pay for DLC to pay for modes, etc.

Unlike previous gens GoldHEN or other similar things are almost useless because you need PSN access for any game to be anything in the modern era, and there is none.

There are literally hundreds of games and DLC back ported for GoldHEN.

When Wii and WiiU got hacked, online was ruined.

I’m glad there is no online for hackers and cheaters.

Nintendo Wi-Fi being an absolute waste of existence is what ruined online, not hackers. The Wii and Wii U at no point in their lifespans had any useful ability to connect to the internet for playing games.

And hey, there's already hackers and cheaters. Like. There. Always. Is.

But you keep waving that weird industry rat flag for things like Flow or smealum.

How wrong could you be do you have the slightest idea of how many online features the Wii U had

Thats actually how most modern systems work. Windows, IOS, Playstation, Xbox, etc.

Yeah, and it considering that they would rather update themselves to keep things consistent with their hardware instead of allowing us to do it whenever we want. Used to be like that! But not anymore.

Well yeah they know that if they easily allow people to stay on older versions it can lead to more people with modded systems.

This is likely a troll account. Those people that you mentioned have no obligations to report their exploits to the community. Also these exploits require lots of research and time that can end up to months to be fully realized. Their work needs to be profitable to them somehow and obv the work will go to the highest bidder because they live in the same world as you where they pay for the cost of living. Yes, there are community donations but that amounts to NOTHING to what bug bounty programs offers. The bug bounty is also a good thing that it exist because it actually motivates more people to search for exploits. It is true that those will be reported to Sony but these exploits are likely to be disclosed at some point, so the community still profits on the long run.

I feel like nowdays people feel entitled to anything which creates of this misconception of people like TheFlow being "a rat".

It is the best of both words. Also i don't get it why you care about GoldHEN with PSN. It just ruins the online experience like it did in PS3 COD games. There are exceptions like cool modders who do add cool stuff, but that is very rare.

EDIT: Cheating is still possible on consoles but at least is not as accessible as system cheats. You need to pay like 70-80 bucks to buy those anti-recoil devices that you use for the controller. And if you get banned GG, you can't do anything whereas with a hacked system you can just spoof your console to appear as a different one

Not a PS4 user, but how would someoen turn off updates for their system
If you want to know the technicality of what the Update blocker for PS4 does, it creates a folder with the name of the update file and that prevents the system from downloading the update since the system doesn't know what to do. I am not sure if at one point Sony patched it by clearing the entire folder if updates fail to download.
