I've been reading http://gbatemp.net/t171901-modify-any-wii-4-3-below but some of the stuff seems pointless since I have homebrew channel installed and have modchip, but I'm not sure which is pointless.

Update HBC in case you aren't running the latest version. It's likely you're still using IOS61, the latest HBC uses IOS58 which requires installing IOS58 and reinstalling HBC (covered in the guide).

Questions:
1. Which firmware should I update to? 4.2 or 4.3?
If you are following the guide you mentioned, update to 4.2, although several people have stated that updating is unnecessary for softmodding.

2. Do/Should I need a to download 42/43mod.zip? If so do I really need to email someone to get it?
42mod.zip, when you email the address in the guide, a reply will come with links to all the zip files and you download 42mod.zip and i forgot the name of the other one.

4. Do/Should I need to install Bootmii?
YES and make sure to make a NAND backup. I always think its better to do the NAND backup right after installing BootMii/HBC for the first time (before updating system menu).

What's the best way to format a new drive? WBFS, FAT32 or NTFS? I want to play my games on USB loader, but also play my WiiWare games off my USB drive rather than my SD cards or internal memory.

Thanks.

WiiFlow freeze with Wii 4.2e after update

Hello,

I softmodded my Wii with firmware 4.2e using this guide:
http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/

including:
Bannerbomb
HackMii
BootMii
Homebrew Channel
IOS236
Wad Manager 1.6
cIOS 38r17
DOP-Mii (v12)
WiiFlow 1.1

After doing system updates with the games Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and DJ Hero 2, WiiFlow now hangs on startup.
I don't know exactly what the state of my Wii is now. I can play games from disc, HBC seems to work.

What should I do to get WiiFlow back running? What components do I need to reinstall.

Thanks in advance!

reinstall your cIOS249

my wii mote seems to loose connection in the cIOS 38r17 installer.
What IOS do you select.
If you choose IOS249, it's because IOS249 is stubbed.
Try IOS(2)36.

IOS 236 is not on the list. When trying IOS36 i get an "Install ERROR! (ret = -1035)"

Other sources on the net say I should remove the stubbed IOS249?

Ah yes

ret= -1035 does indeed mean that there is a stub blocking the way (well, not exactly, but in this case it does
tongue.gif
). You can do 2 things:
1) Remove the Stub (with DOP-Mii for example) then try again.
2) Grab the IOS235 Installer and use it to install IOS236. Then use IOS236 for the cIOS install (which will not give you the ret error)

When trying DOP-Mii (v12) on IOS249 I get "ERROR! Choose an IOS that accepts fake signing!"

Trying the IOS236_v5 installer (used v3 and v4 before without success):
Unable to initialise the inital patches.
This either means you didn't follow the download
and launching instructions correctly, or your IOS
is not vulnerable for an unknown reason.
Perhaps you need to update the Homebrew Channel (HBC).

Seems to me like something earlier in the modding process broke, no?
Anyways, thanks for your time, already!

Im getting
"An error has occured.
Press the EJECT Button, remove the Disc
and turn of the power to the console.
Please refer to the Wii Opeerations Manual
for details"

It's happens at random when im playing games.
I play them off an external USB pen.
I have Homebrew Channel 1.0.8 I think, System menu 4.1
and the IOS is 236. But when I checked the USB loader GX, it said
I only could load New Supermario Bros in either 222, 223, 249 250 ios'es.
And in my homebrew channel it says IOS 61. Not 58 or 236, is that were the issue is?

When I change the IOS in my All purpose mod tool to 58 it reverts back to 236 when I exit
and come back in again.

Any help appreciated :-)

@ mortal_marcel and Maskinen, both of your problems can be solved by using ModMii to rehack your Wii is if it were a virgin.

I used your installer btw, thanks for that!

So I just need to use it again? My Wii was a virgin, and its the first time ever I've attemtped to mod anything.
It works pretty good, except the game keeps crashing as descibed above. Also when I tried to use the
WIIMC Channel Installer, it said I needed to have installed ios 58. Im quite new to all this :-)

So all I have to do is re-install it with your ModMii Xflak?

Hello, I have a Wii with 4.3U of Waninkoko. But when I put the 007-GoldeyEye (Backup DVD) the Wii asks to update the system menu. As if I'm already in the latest version?

I tried using the Pimp My Wii 2.11 has not resolved, it keeps saying my wii is outdated and can not play through the dic channel. There are how to solve this problem?

>My Wii is not LU or something like this, its more old.
>My Driveship is a D2PRO

Thanks and sorry my english.

Hey, I soft moded a friends wii a while ago and now we are trying to boot up a legit copy of Goldeneye I just got but it gives us a warning of something along the lines of "restart now or be banned" and wants us to update... is there any way we can play this legit copy or do I have to use an unmoded wii?
