Another progress, observation bla bla bla :
After over a year of using WBFS partition - I going to re-do my Wii's game play list (soon).
Basically, the same way I did as in my previous notes.
Start from scratch with a fresh WBFS partition & dump games in one go. All the crap happens when deleting & adding games a bit at a time .... bla bla bla.
I have been using a 512gb Samsung evo+ micro SDXC in a USB2 adapter. WBFS partition worked better than well the first time & still no corrupt or damaged files/games .... bla bla bla.
Fat32 (huh) ?? Good/better on Windows, but not so good with other gadgets. Many aren't following the guidelines
Ever noticed when you delete &/or add, lets say 'mp3s'; the playback queue list rearanges with certain songs & then some songs develop blops, twangs, jump to other songs or just become garbled ?
I know many have had success with discrete USB flash drives with Fat32, but I would put it down to smaller USB capacity sizes & certain brands, plus USB3x can confuse/hinder issues. Finding the better ones are mostly guess work, but not impossible.
Yes - I'm still using a early USBLGX & I really want to implement the latest GX. I need to see (for myself) if the hype is true.
Many say there isn't much difference between USB flash drives & micro SD cards, but I beg to differ. The compatibility & speed rates are vastly greater. Micro SD is a clear winner, but I'm still on WBFS partitions, & not Fat32. Just leaving well-enough-alone & enjoying the success. GC games & apps are on 256gb micro SD with fat32 (front of Wii).
HDDs are nominated as the most compatible, but you will still encounter certain game load issues with Fat32. GX is the best one with the most load successes. ConfigUSB is my backup.
Both of my HDDs - Seagate 2tb external power & Seagate 2tb USB powered, perform well enough with Fat32 & GX (old vers). I found it identical (gaming compatibility & load speeds) to SDXC in USB2 adapters. I only use the HDDs as backup storage (these days).
Anyway, I need to re-do my laptop's OS. Win10 pro updates are driving me crazy. Win apps are failing & resetting to some abnormal states. Very unstable. I think my laptop's HDD is nearing it's end.
HDD image backup to start with & the rest will be painfully slow, boring & frustrating to watch unfold.
I'm the type that prefers to do/try things directly & keep it basically, very simple. So much info floating around & then the "Don't follow this, that & the other. And then, ModMii simply does it's magic
Gotta love XFlak's work !!
The Wii is able to do so many other things, but for me it's plainly Wii & GC games. It's what I had from the hard-mod beginning.
Some people just love to hang shit on WBFS partitioning &, yes it has issues, but when under control, it's equivalent &/or better than Fat32. But, there's still compatibility issues with newer & larger, discrete Flash drives. Heaps better with SDXC's.
WBFS was made-up for the Wii & was never perfected/completed - Pity
There could have been many more apps made for ease of use.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas & had a blast on New Year's eve. GBA = Still the place to be. Thank you
ps. Wonder how many folks got a Wii as a Chrisy present or just, self indulged.
pps. I wrote/prepared the above just prior to my laptop's functions turning to crap. Hoping I can post this without hassles.
Not looking good, but it looks like the HDD, but it also looks like NTFS aging issues, & it looks like Win10 pro updates have taken a toll. It's not looking like the media integrity (much). Though apps are failing & some corrupt files, & I need to back them up. Been busy doing that.
Not happy, but that's life. It is a 2008 Emachines 727. Things just turn to shit with old age
The good news - The 727 has a twin. Yeah, I got 2 of them for my daughters during their school years.
Back soon. I hope
Hang in there Blackb0x - I'm getting there.
