So I've been having drift issues with Sonic Adventure DX running on Nintendont on my Wii U. After playing the game for a while, the controller will start to drift. I've switched my controller and adapter since I started, ran the game both directly from Nintendont and from an injected title on my Wii U homescreen. I've used different dumps of the game, and I still get issues. I've even ran the adapter through different ports on my Wii U, but no dice.

I think the issue might be that the controller disconnects and reconnects super quickly, since I think I've noticed the drift is always in the opposite direction of wherever I was just inputing. However, I'm not really sure. I've only noticed this issue when playing Sonic Adventure, and no other titles.

I saw someone else having a similar issue to me, but they were on the Wii, and I'm on the Wii U.

In case you're wondering, I initially used Old Skool controllers and adapters, but I switched to a Mayflash adapter with an Official Smash 4 Gamecube controller.

are you suing the latest nintendont build ? 498?

if so then its not a nintendont issue but probably your controller that has issues, if you use another controller this also happne? like wiiu gamepad? or wiiu pro controller or wii classic controller?

I am using the latest build, 6.498. I've used the Mayflash GC to Wiimote adapter, which lets me use Gamecube controllers as Classic Controllers, and it works fine there. I've also used two different adapters, and I've had the same problem with both of them.

might need to adjust the controller's deadzone in the nintendon't src.

The thing is, the drift doesn't happen all the time. It takes 5-10 minutes of gameplay for it to start happening.

Regardless, what file should I edit and to what values?
it's most likely in the padreadgc.c, but I don't know how to increase it. drift or the character moving when you're not touching the controller is caused by the deadzone.

I think it's less of a deadzone issue, since when it happens, the character is running at full speed, as if I was pressing that direction on the analog stick.

didnt awnser my question, did you ever used another controller? besides anything through the mayflash adapter? used wiiu gamepad? wiiu pro controller?wii classic controller? it would be helpfull to know if it happens with those for you too.

this doesnt seem like a deadzone issue at all since it only happens after afew minutes, if it was deadzone it would happen since the first second imo.

I noticed some analog stick issue few days ago also. I am using Wii with original GC orange controller but I changed left Analog Stick because it was loose. I think I used new potentiometer instead of using the old one. I checked all the analog stick ranges and it works fine with no deadzone issues.
I was trying to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) and came up with this issue that was reported 13 years ago.

I tested with Wii Classic Controller and didn't have this issue. I wonder if it is due to new potentiometer or not. But usually cheap analog stick potentiometers have huge deadzone in the middle while this one doesn't have.

So you failled to mention that you even swapped analogue sticks... that is probably becuase the analogic stick isnt the same maybe it has more values or less values, so yeah its your gc controller for sure not the adapter then...

to test the analogue sticks on nintendont get the gamecube game f zero gx it has an analogue stick tester on the options.

Replacement sticks are never exactly the same, and some games dont know how to handle the differences.

I've used the Classic Controller, and it works just fine. I also know it's not an issue with the controller or adapter since I've been able to play other games just fine. I've played Mario Kart Double Dash, SSX Tricky, and Resident Evil 4 with the same controller and adapter, and I haven't had any issues with them. It's just Sonic that causes drift.

like i said it happens per game, some games are very picky with the control values and have weird controller codes and are more sensitive than others. nintendont only uses one controller code so if the CC works fine then its the other controller setup issue since values are readed the same and sent the same to the game.

Can you try this dol? i made sonic dx (suposing your using pal or usa version use a diferent controller connecting method, if this solves your issue let me know, just replace the boot.dol on the apps folder of nintendont

I used the boot.dol and played Sonic Adventure DX for around 30 minutes and haven't had any issues. I think you fixed it! Thanks a whole bunch!

Hi all!

Why do you think I get a black screen after loading a game (sd: games/xy/game.iso)? I'm using WiiU (Tiramisu) -> vWii -> Hombrew channel -> Nintendont route, because it doesn't work. My Nintendont settings: default. I have tried forwarder, USB Helper and VC injector aaand another sd card. Result same black screen!

Please help me! :-)

I would first delete any nincfg.bin (I believe that's what it is still called) on the root of the SD card where Nintendont is stored and where you have stored your ISOs as the settings above are NOT default as Memcard Emulation's default is on especially since you are using a Wii U which has no GameCube Memory Card slots and you will not be able to save. Also WiiU Widescreen should be on since you are using a Wii U.

General rule of thumb is to get Nintendont working via Homebrew Channel in vWii mode first as that's gives you the best shot for it to work. Once everything is working then you can experiment with other methods.
