I was using Sinyk's modified Triiforce_mrc_SS v7 but decided to give marc_max's new v9 a try. Unfortunately it doesn't look like v9 has a console select option at startup. I have a couple hundred titles installed in my NAND, so v9 was very difficult to use and it took forever to find things with everything in one place.

Does this v9 have a way to organize your installed games, or is waiting for another version of ss my only way to keep things easy?

for all that are wondering this does not work on sdhc cards and to use off usb hdd your fat32 partition must be set to active. took me two day to figure this out and no one else had mentioned it. but after lots of agervation and head achs i figured it out. great interface and keep up the good work, cant wait for the next version

I have both FAT32-WBFS partitions marked as active and triiforce mrc still can't detect the FAT32 one... or should I unmark the WBFS partition active status?
Only one partition at a time can be the active partition on a drive. Make sure it's the FAT32 partition.

Yup, it was because having 2 partitions marked active that was causing the problem... thanks !

I've been messing with this, and digging, for the better part of 2 nights now...

Is it possible to use the iso forwarder pack(s) found in this thread (posted by kallstar) completely from usb? (completely being the iso, converted to wbfs, and the gameid.dol)
And what is the EXACT required location of the files?

What I've tried that did not work:
I used wbfs_file to convert the .iso forwarder to a .wbfs file and copied it to usb under USB:\wbfs\gameid.wbfs.
I also copied the gameid.dol to USB:\Forwarders\Wiiware\gameid.dol.
When I launch the game from config usb loader, all I get is a black screen.

What worked:
I copied the USB:\Forwarders\Wiiware\gameid.dol. to SD:\Forwarders\Wiiware\gameid.dol, then everything was fine...all I changed was the location of the gameid.dol.

Is it possible to use the .dol files from the pack from USB, or must they be on the SD card?

Sorry if this is answered here, but, I've been unsuccessful in my hunt for this answer.
I'd rather not have to try to recreate the files that I'd like to use.

Great stuff!

TIA

Is showmiiwads able to extract the images from vc/wiiware? Because the majority of my games are JPN ones and it's hard to find the screenshots...
from VC, yes, very easily. Right click the VC in ShowMiiWads, and click "Extract VC Pic". It'll extract the VC Pic for use, and it should be the right resolution, so you'll just need to rename it to the correct name.
WiiWare, it's not quite as easy. You'll need to select the WAD, click "Edit" then go to "Preview", then look through all the images using the drop down boxes until you find one that is suitable and (preferably) also the right resolution (if it isn't, you can resize it using any tool you like. Remember, the resolution is 192x112).

Thanks, is there any freeware program that can resize images?

@skynight & bloodlust - I use Spayrosam's 3 ISO'S Studio V3 (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=187806&st=420) to create my triiforce ISO forwarders (v4 was a big buggy) and they are able to run completely from USB HDD. Check it out, it's pretty straight-forward and easy to use. There's also a boxcover pack in that thread somewhere if you're too lazy to create your own covers.
Good luck dude!

It seems i have the same problem :

Context :

- HDD of 320 go with 2 partitions : Fat32 / 20 Go / active / First partition
WBFS / 300 go / second partition
- Cios Rev 14 (for information)

Actions :
- Backup made with SimpleFs Dumper 0.42 : Compatibility mode (size taken is not a problem on Hdd)
--> 8 directories (including "tickets" and "Title") copied on SD
- Test with Triiforce r 75 or triforce MRC v9 (Choosinf "SD nand" on start menu)
--> ok , works fine (no need to add more games with ShowmeWads; there was some on physical NAND so some on Emulated NAND on SD card)
- Copying the 8 directories on root of HDD (fat 32 of course) and test with Triiforce (or triforce Mrc) and choosing "USB nand"
--> Can't find "\title001001"

I have deleted fat 32 partition and created again (and activate)
--> same result

- The worst it is that i worked some days before
- i search across the forum a similar problem and i found this solution but i don't understand : when i activate the fat32 partition in windows, the wbfs partition CAN'T be active no ? (only one partition on a disk can be active at the same time no ?)

Yeah, only one partition can be active. the FAT32 is the one that needs to be active. WBFS has no benefit from being the active partition.

If you have multiple active partitions, it's like having no active partitions.
Make sure your FAT32 partition is your ONLY active partition ON THAT DRIVE.
DO NOT play with the active partitions on anything other then your HDD, or your PC may not boot anymore.

when cIOS Rev 20 is released

Something tells me that's not going to be for a while yet.

I'm sure Waninkoko won't be breaking his neck to release it just yet, not after all the flaming and arguing the last release caused in the forums.

I logged in one day to see what was going on, and there were peeps telling others to go suck a big fat one all because MPT didnt work with it? lol

Yeah, we won't see MRC Rev 10 until cIOSx rev 20 comes out, or a solution to the cIOSx Rev 18/19 issues with Triiforce are found. I'm going to stick to the cIOSx theory myself.

I tried with an USB Key of 1 go rather than Usb Hdd
Usb key is Fat32 and active by default.
There nothing else than backup of Nand made with SimpleFsDumper 0.42
--> nor the same error ("cant find title0010001") where the same Nand backup on Sd works fine.

do i upgrade My CIOS38 rev 14 to v17 ? i don't think it will change something ..

rev17 is stable, to be honest use the rev17b from the sciifii installation as it contains a dl bug fixed that wasn't in the offical rev17

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:

  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
