I reinstalled it into 249 as well as 222 and 223, but when I load CFG, it still loads from 248. Also, I am not sure why this would effect the Wii loading discs normally, starting to think that it is just an issues with the games as I just bought them used a few days ago. I have had no issues with any of my games, all load normal.

Hi,
your slot 249, 222 and 223 slots are stubbed, you should remove them before installing the cIOS.

Install and launch Multi-Mod Manager http://mmm4wii.posterous.com/tag/134wiimmm with the HBC,

at the last line "Load another IOS..." choose IOS 236
then go to "remove stubbed IOSs" and choose "remove stub IOS 222, 223, 249, 250, 254"

Next, you can reinstall the cIOS 249, 222 and 223
smile.gif
.

I removed them as stubs before reinstalling them, but when I boot CFG, it still loads from 248, and when I hit 1 and change it to 249, it only changes it for that one game. All the games except one work fine loading with 248, and the one that doesnt load is a game I cant even get to load from the disc, so think it is just a disc issue. I have a feeling that I installed the cIOS twice now, just in 2 different slots. My issue is just unable to load 2 games from disc, but as mentioned, pretty sure it is an issues with the 2 used games I bought.

As a general, should I just restart my softmod from the bootmii nand? or can I just leave it, having the cIOS installed in 2 different slots (248 and 249)? And just a so I know question, if I load the bootmii nand file, does it just restore my wii to the way it was when I made the nand file, IE, no cIOS or anything installed except the homebrew channel?

Hi. I have a somewhat newly modded 4.3U wii which I used the Indiana Jones exploit and ModMii (virgin option) to get softmodded. I am trying to play gamecube backups, the unit is 4 years old so it should be able to play burned discs.

I have downloaded Neogamma through Modmii but I don't know what to do with the folder of neogamma files now that its downloaded. I tried putting it in the root of the SD card and then again in the app folder. Where do I put the files and how do I need install it?

I was also told that CFG USB Loader could load a burned gamecube discs but I when I try it just says "not a wii disc!"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

in the modmii directory, there should be a folder named "COPY_TO_SD", and in that should be an apps folder, and a NeoGamma folder. Copy the NeoGamma folder to the root of your sd card, and copy the apps folder to the root of your card as well. When copying, say yes if it asks to merge or overwrite stuff. Now just start neogamma from the homebrew channel, and have fun.

Also, CFG cannot load gamecube backups (well it can, IIRC, but not through usb, or as well as neogamma, and you need a different cmios, and then you could just load them from the disk channel, but it is still worse then neogamma...)

great! Thanks Person66!!

I have another question.

I downloaded an ISO backup for one of my games (Timesplitters future perfect) and when it was all extracted, it had the file extension .gcm Is that right? I thought it needed to be .iso? Should I just burn in like that or will it not work.

Also what is the tool Wiped GCM Fixer for and how do I know when I need to use it.

Sorry for my dumb questions, I'm trying to learn

trucha bug is an old exploit used to homebrews advantage, but I think it's an old exploit that's no longer needed thanks to IOS236 installer. I once believed in pimp my wii too, but it's no longer needed.

I have 4.2U on my Wii. I really want to use the Stack Smash Exploit, as it is really easy. Should I update to 4.3U? Or will I be fine to do it with 4.2U

Sorry, I'll be asking alot of questions as I'm a huge noob when it comes to hacks.

Use bannerbomb, it's compatible with 4.2 and much easier. It's harder to softmod a 4.3 wii unless you know what you're doing.

True, but bannerbomb is still simpler.

Alas! I have Installled the HBC onto my wii using Bannerbomb, however I didn't know what to do with Bootmii SO I just Exited out. Should I do the Bannerbomb exploit again, and install Bootmii as something? IOS? Boot2?

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
