Hey guys, my initial test didn't work but it did after using sonic2756's save fix. All credits go to him!

My setup:

New 3DS XL - 9.0.0-20U
OoT - Front: LNA-CTR-AQEE-USA
Back: AQEE510220
Working y/n - NO with Gateway's save. YES with sonic2756's save.
Purchased when? - release date

I picked the filename: AQEEFIX.SAV from it. Worked for me!!!

I patched through Gateway's save restore program.

I could Ctrl+C Ctrl+V this post. The saaaaaame with me!!!

I have a copy of the game with a back code that hasn't been tested and two old 3DS XLs. Couple questions-- is it worth trying this? And if it is, would I be able to restore my old original game saves? I kind of don't want to lose those.

It do work using his save file. I can enter into EmuNand and everything works perfectly

I have a copy of the game with a back code that hasn't been tested and two old 3DS XLs. Couple questions-- is it worth trying this? And if it is, would I be able to restore my old original game saves? I kind of don't want to lose those.

Definitely worth trying. You can backup your save before injecting the new one, and then if you ever feel so inclined, you can inject the backup back to the cartridge (at the expense of losing the ability to boot the Gateway).

Used the Gateway cart to update the save file on a different 3DS XL I own and the exploit works correctly.

Yes, GW menu has an option to save your cart saves. But you will need to back them up, copy to computer and place the GW save in the root of the SD card. Then restore the GW save to your OoT cart and give it a try. If it doesn't work, you can repeat that process with your original save backup.

I love the game so much I have no problem playing it all over again though.
