Just wanted to ask for some clarity, does this mean that twilight menu (or I guess technically nds-bootstrap) could be used to run a retail game nds rom on an action replay dsi? I'm asking since I recently tried to do this, however my attempts proved unsucessful, and I was wondering if it was because it's not possible to do this or if I simply made a mistake when trying.
Not all games work, so no, you did nothing wrong.

So, if I may, I'm still confused about that blurb on page 1, under "Set-up (Flashcard users, including DS Phat/DS lite)"

If you want to use TWL clock speed and/or VRAM boost on your flashcard games, launch your flashcard using TWiLight Menu++ on the console's SD card, with the "SCFG access in Slot-1" setting turned on.
Does this mean you can only run flashcards with TWL clock speed if you have either one of a 3DS with CFW and a DSi with HiyaCFW?

No.
It means you can set per-game settings for your DS ROMs while running TWLMenu++ your flashcard.

Okay. But how do you "launch your flashcard using TWiLight Menu++ on the console's SD card" if you're running TWLMenu++ from the flashcard, then?

You don't. You just do exactly that: Launch your flashcard using TWiLight Menu++ on the console's SD card.
It does not say: Launch your flashcard using TWiLight Menu++ on the console's flashcard.

I do apologize, I'm probably missing something brazenly obvious here.

Without CFW, the only way to start TWiLight Menu++ is from the flashcard, right? Is TWiLight Menu++ running from the flashcard then supposed to be able to access the SD card?

I just installed this on my 3DS and I'm trying to get GBARunner working, but I'm getting the "BINF3DS sd card" error. I have the GBA Bios on the root of the SD. Whats going on? Thanks!

this is a stupid question, but I can't find my games? it just shows a blank screen with no games, even though all my roms are in SD:/roms/nds

It's probably not the correct BIOS file, from what I heard.

Do they end in .nds?
If so, did you go to that folder in the app?

Yeah, they're .nds
I turned on "show folders" and realized that it actually put me at the root of the SD...maybe add an option that lets you specify the default roms directory like in TWLoader? Because I like clean menus without folders but I also don't like having files on the root when they don't have to be.

Is there a difference in performance running this in ds mode / dsi mode / dsi mode (forced)? Which should be used for a N3DS?

Also, the soft reset combo causes the app to crash and reset the system. Do I need to manually change a setting to get this feature to work? I am using the 3DS theme. I assume this allows you to return to the menu and select / load another game?

Most games run the same speed as on a flashcard.

Yes.
Turn on game patching in Luma settings to fix the crash.

Can anyone help me find the proper files for a fresh installation of DSiMenu++? All the github links I find return 404s, and the discord links are invalid.

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
