I’m on Evilnat 4.90 on a PS3 slim CECH 2101A which firmware do I update to? Rebug Toolbox says I'm on CEX but I have no idea which one to download. I'm trying to update to 4.91.2 Evilnat Cobra on PSX PLACE which one do I download and install on my PS3?

You can install it if you want but you can check up what each version is for like cex is retail and dex is development unit firmware
Ok, I did not know the difference between the different ones. What does PEX do?

PEX -> Retail console, CEX + DEX kernel
CEX -> Retail console, CEX kernel only (normal)
D-PEX -> Debug/Converted console, DEX + CEX kernel
DEX -> Debug Converted console, DEX kernel only

Hello. Newbie here! I am in a similar situation but on PC with RPCS3 emulator on Linux and I would like to know which of the firmware I should be installing between the CEX, PEX, DEX firmwares. I ran into a challenge running Need For Speed (gotten from the rpcs3 website). It is too slow to even launch fully. So, i thought to search for alternative firmware and came on here. I am hoping it is a firmware issue. I would appreciate any help on this.

Update: so, I went ahead to install the CEX CFW and the NFS actually loaded faster but it is still slow and not really playing. It has been compiling shaders since forever.

You don't need CFW on emulator and it won't affect anything with shaders. You need to get a better CPU on your PC.

Thank you for that feedback. I realised that I actually do need a PC with better CPU. It appears that seems to be the issue.
