Hello everyone, this question may have been asked many many times but here is my concern. I'm highly interested about this priiloader system menu hack : https://github.com/dg4l/wiimenu-gcn-hack?tab=readme-ov-file

It was firstly only compatible with 4.3U and now with 4.3J and 4.3E. The thing is, according to the repo Contributor his work could only have existed thanks to the System menu decompilation project (which only working on 4.3 version of the firmware). So I don't think He will make this hack work for previous firmware version.

So I'm in front of 2 way, would it be possible to look at the 000....app firmware 512 (4.3E) and mine 450 (4.1E) and searching each offset patched on 512 and try to find those offset on the 450 firmware, like How cheat code region converting work ?

Or should I just update anyway. Back in the days some people told me that there are completely 0 benefits of changing firmware between 4.0 4.1 4.2 and 4.3 because all it do is restrictions about hacks, no new features. And about that I'm afraid of loosing some functions if I update, I heard that Homebrew channel that is "LULZ" doesn't work on 4.3 but it's the HBC of bootmii as boot2 so I couldn't boot the HBC from bootmii anymore ?

Or maybe all information is getting jumbled in my head and I misunderstood everything.

If you have a properly hacked Wii, which you can confirm with ModMii, there is no downside to upgrading to 4.3. You won't lose anything. The vast majority of us are on 4.3 and have been for a very long time.
Alright, I always been afraid of using modmii because I don't want to install/reinstall many stuff from the beginning of the hack, like hackmii installer. Does it work if I only install IOS wads and 4.3 system menu wad, without touching bootmii or homebrew channel ?

No.
You need to have an up to date HBC. Older versions of HBC (and cIOS) will be removed by the update.

Yes - as stated, make sure you have the latest HackMii installer with HBC. Older versions with blacklisted title IDs (such as with DVDX) will be removed once you update to 4.3. Updating the system version generally isn't a huge priority.

Refer to https://wii.hacks.guide/get-started and follow the Wilbrand method. The rest is to update your cIOS and USB loaders along the way, and you should be good.

Actually I reused the hackmii installer not so long ago (maybe one year) because my homebrew channel was upside down. My homebrew channel title id is "LULZ", it's version 1.1.5 using iOS 58 v24.32.
I have bootmii v1.5.
I wonder this because Modmii download several files like bannerbomb, YAWM, priiloader etc, I already have all that.
Don't will be enough to install all iOS wad in my YAWM and the 4.3 wad at the end ?

Modmii has a syscheck updater wizard option, where u can feed it your syscheck.csv and it will only have you update what's missing or outdated (or tell u everything is optimal and no actions are suggested)

Just drag and drop your syscheck.csv onto modmii.exe (or a shortcut to it) and it will tell u what to do (or use the SU option in modmii classic)

Edit: this won't help u update from 4.1 to 4.3 iirc, since nothing wrong with 4.1 modmii's syscheck updater wizard won't suggest installing 4.3 unless you're on 4.0 or lower. However, u can still use modmii's main wizard and tell it that it's not the first time you're modding the console and that u know what u want to do and then choose to update to 4.3 when prompted and decline everything else. Alternatively, all u need is to install IOS80 and the 4.3E system menu (ideally install modmii's ios80 but unless the wii was formerly Korean and poorly region changed stock ios80 is also safe). Use yawmme to install the new system menu so you can retain priiloader, otherwise if u use a dif wad manager you'll need to reinstall priiloader afterwards

Edit2: I think the simplest thing to do is to use modmii's syscheck updater wizard and in the install wads step install one additional (4.3E system menu, from Modmii classic's download page 1). This way you'll update anything that's outdated as well as switch from 4.1 to 4.3

Ok so the Modmii Wizard method, after saying that I wanted to install all recommended soft mods, being on 4.1 and would like to go to 4.3 make me download this file list (1st picture).

But then I tried like you advised me with the syscheck drag and drop, I didn't saw the "soft mod update" program during the all day because it doesn't show up on the modmii skin.exe only the cmd software.

And here its thoughts (picture 2) I'm missing the cIOS 248, but I have the 58, then he want to stub some iOSs (I have a console that used to read backup disque on system menu in 2009) and I have historically Hermes cIOSs.

So I should just add system menu 4.3E wad to the 2nd pic list and install all wads right ?

Ps: sorry for the bad quality of pictures

Correct, but also when prompted to retain priiloader say yes, and afterwards you will have to re-enable your priiloader system menu hacks

Also the first option I was saying in your case was to NOT choose to install all recommended softmods, since u only wanted to update to 4.3. Doesn't matter anyway, since you're doing it the other way.

BTW none of this will really impact the functionality of your setup, with the exception of cios248, and even then it would only improve things for certain game backups which you may or may not even play. The 4.1 system menu itself is not inferior to 4.3 in any way
