Deleting all game data from a different firmware

When I first modded my Switch, I didn't realize I got some stuff installed on sysMMC, and some on emuMMC. It didn't help that some things worked in both. But soon it became clear that that was not the norm. One day some software that was the same on both became compartmentalized and also now I had to re-pair bluetooth controllers each time I switched firmwares. I made sure to only use emuMMC since then and I've tried to move the software out of sysMMC but the other thing I learned is that once something is installed anywhere. It will only run there.

Games I purchased that [obviously] ran on stock, also ran on sysMMC, but not on emuMMC; I deleted them from sysMMC and tried to install them on emuMMC but it wouldn't let me, I tried with more and it was the same result every time. Using Tinfoil and Goldleaf I dug down to delete all tickets related to those games to see if that helped but it didn't. As I understand there are no saves for those games in the system because I deleted all data from the games before deleting the games themselves.

But who knows, the file system is very confusing, I barely know what I'm doing—and that's a gross overstatement.

After deleting everything I could find about those games on each firmware boot, games would still refuse to install citing that my firmware is too old despite that it was the same as before. When I updated the firmware I got the same error. This was with something called CyberFoil. Sigpatches were installed on each.

Tinfoil's error was different, it used to tell me "something-something couldn't be overwritten", or something to that effect. That was my first hint that firmwares indeed share some filesystem but I don't know what that is. This was in older firmware, I currently don't have Tinfoil.

How can I delete every trace about those games so it will let me install them on emuMMC?

When I was updating with Daybreak before, it offered me to reset factory settings. Would that help?

I don't mind if I lose progress, but I'm sure as f**k I don't to brick my system. I've had way too many close calls for comfort. It says it's not only the settings but all data would need to be reinstalled, and since partitions, or whatever the system boots into obviously share at least a filesystem, I'm a little uneasy about it.​

have you tried using DBI? goldleaf and tinfoil are outdated

I hadn't because the last versions I've gotten of it were all in Russian, but I'll look it up right away, hopefully that works, thanks! almost forgot, do you know if it's safe to reset factory defaults by chance??

I have small victory! Installing through DBI finally completed successfully, it also shows in green "[SIGNATURE: OK]" which is just nice to look at.

Unfortunately when it finished, the game was nowhere to be found. I tried again and I noticed there were some errors I did not see the first time around, if there were there at all.

They were basically the same errors that Tinfoil has. Something already exists and it can't be overwritten. Oh man!

If I only knew where those files are to erase them myself but it seems to be all crypty and stuff.

# Update 2

As I sat there contemplating that blurry red text from the degraded image (courtesy of sending myself things through Telegram) I realized that below the buttonless TV I'm watching with a little silver bitten apple surrounded in a black mirror of a bezel, I noticed that the closed panini press below it was actually a computer. A computer that can work with things such as:

1. Files

And it also has a very powerful file manager (not Finder, that things hasn't been good for a while) where I could just type a few characters and finds stuff. Who knew?!

So I did just that: I…
1. took out the card, not bothered shutting it down,
2. put it in an adapter,
3. into the computer,
4. searched for and deleted the four files,
5. out the card back in the chunky tablet,
6. pressed a volume button on the error screen that appeared when I took out the card. It rebooted in Hekate, where I…
7. chose something,
8. tried again, no more red text. All green!
9. I went back to the homescreen and the game appeared. I became religious for a second while I waited for the game not to present an error. It didn't. I went back to secularism again.

Is that a word? Who cares. (and 10.) IT WORKED!-IT WORKED!-IT WORKED!

This had annoyed me for months, and I'm too angry at Nintendo to go get another console to get my game back (since I assume this is probably banned).
