You know when you are in a battle and below the portrait, the character's name is there? I know where that is located (data>ui>message>melee.mbst, and under MmelCharaC_01_CharacterName). The problem is that I want to add something to the .mbst file (specifically, to put in MmelCharaC_02_Pitb) but I don't know how to do this. I don't really understand how the pointers work in the file, and the MBST editor I'm using doesn't support adding strings. Welp sorry if this was confusing, but thanks for reading
I figured out what I've been doing wrong with the model swaps. I was putting them over the wrong slots.
I didn't actually realize that Sm4sh's models are restricted to the ID numbers of their original slot,
Although I assume there is a way to change it, since some mods I've found will work over any slot.
Just going to ask this here as well since it seems more active:
Similar to how you activate unused slots like giga bowser/warioman etc, Can you make mii outfits/hats that you haven't unlocked selectable? if so if anyone can explain how or link me to a thread( I havent found any that answer this) i'd appreciate it.
I've been working on a sizeable "Expansion Pack" for Smash Bros Wii U, and I'm getting close to the point where I will need some beta testing. Would anyone be down to participate? (This is for the USA version, btw)
A little info about the pack (copied from the Github):
The purpose of this mod pack is to expand the experience of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, as well as showcase some of the best work of the Super Smash Bros. modding community. To that end, this mod pack does not replace any content in the base game or DLC. All new costumes, songs, and stages are added as additional slots, as to not undo any of original game. Furthermore, nothing has been done to change balance of the game - all characters will retain their movesets as of the most recent patch.
I'm looking to release a "beta" version sometime this weekend, and have a version 1.0 within the next week.
If you're interested, inbox me with the following info:
Do you currently have mods working/running on your Wii U?
Smash Experience
Amount of time playing Smash on a weekly basis
Experience (if any) working on collaborative projects
Why should I pick you to be a beta tester?
As of right now, I only have about 100 new songs. I'm pushing for around 150 for version 1.0, and then we'll see how receptive people are to it. Costume-wise, it's a bit lacking, but to be honest there aren't a ton of quality mods out yet. I'm only interested in featuring "completed" works - characters that include CSPs, Battle Icons, ect.
If you have any questions, feel free to inbox me. Hope to get some hype generated for this!
I have my mods and everything setup and was working earlier, i added some new mods and now the game freezes when I hit the "smash" button to pull up character select? Has anyone encountered/solved this problem? The mods I installed were custom maps and little things here and there.

Maybe this has already been asked and answered, but has anyone here successfully dumped smash wii u onto their computer using a Mac? If so please let me know. My problem is running titledumper through Wine. I get it started through terminal but for some reason the download stops in the same place and just sits there. If anyone could help me out with this problem I would appreciate it.

Does anyone else have trouble getting pacman's alts to work. I extracted the original files for the new textures and it appears red (even though I used the textid fix).

So I want to start making texture hacks,
I have photoshop C6, the injectpack with all the tools, and the file I want to edit which is Mario. So I extract mario's textures, edited his hat since it was the easiest one for me to edit and was for testing purposes, I save my edited texture in Photoshop with the same dxt format, and number of mipmaps, exported it and replaced the original file and when I click on easyinject to inject my first texture, the tmp.gtx does appear but when I use NUT_check.py and convertgtx2dds.bat the newly modified .dds textures my .nut should have when converted popped out in the outdds folder with the original textures.
Is there or something I didn't follow?

This happened with me too. Make sure your directories are correct in the EasyInject.bat file by editing it with Notepad.
The first path should be the adress to your Easy_Inject folder, with commas on both sides with ;C:/Python27 straight afterward.
The second path should be the adress to NUT_Inject.py in the Inject_Pack folder, with commas around it.

This is My Edited Path For EasyInject.bat.
Is it set up right?
for %%f in (*.dds) do for %%b in (*.nut) do python "C:\Users\Jerry\Documents\3ds\Wii\Sm4sh\texture modding pack\NUT_Inject.py" %%b %%f %%~nf set PATH=C:\Python27setlocal[spoiler/]

First line will have the path to the inject folder. If your path has a space, put quotes around the whole path.
Second line will have the folder to the NUT_inject.py. Same deal as above.
Also put the DDS in the same folder for it to inject properly.

I set up everything like your path above.
I put my edited .dds texture in the same place as Easyinject.bat.
Ran easyinject and then to see if my textures are replaced I did NUT_check and convertgtx2dds.bat and the converted gtx files are the same ones the original file used.
