Hi,

I will sell my WiiU, I have NSMB and Mario Maker from eShop on it. I'm pretty sure they're tied to the hardware. Are they also tied to the acc? Will the new owner be able to play those games or not? Thanks!

If you give them your NNID info they can use the account and all its games. The account is locked to that Wii U anyways, so there is not much harm in giving them your info, unless you use the same NNID on 3DS, that's when things start getting problematic.

Well I have this NNID yes, going by my name. Can they rename it? I don't have NNID linked to my 3ds and I don't intend to.

I'm not sure, but I doubt it's possible. I believe they can link their own NNID on a separate account, and keep yours linked just to access the games on it.

Still it's kinda dorky to give someone else my account info. Maybe I just accept that the games are gone, or maybe - just maybe - the new nx console supports "WiiU ware" and let's me download the stuff again there. Better to keep it to myself I think.

I mean...
you are selling it to a person and want to give him also your eshop games in the price?
in this case do not delete your NNID account, just set a password and remove credit card data from eshop settings, the person that buy your wiiu must create another account and link it to a NNID so he can access eshop with his own data.
obviously if you gonna buy a NX create a new NNID to be sure in the future you got no problems.

if you don't care about games for him, and you gonna rebuy them in case when there will be NX dicscounts then delete your account , format the console and sell him a virginized wiiu ...

IMPORTANT:
to be clear as long you set a password to you account he cannot see your info but enjoy your installed games.
He only create a new account and link that to a new NNID, if he delete your account then he cannot redownload the games anymore since they are linked to you passworded account.

I wouldn't keep the account on there. If you decide to buy a game on the 3ds or nx later and add your cc there, they could go on a shopping spree with your account.

Imma format the thing and keep my account to myself. It's only those two games, not like 20 titles that are worth a heck
yeah the right choice.
you must consider also that with My nintendo they discount already wiiu games and in the near future other games will be added to the discounts.
for few dollars you could play them on NX if it will be backward compatible with wiiu games.

hope you make clear to your customer that you will sell him a empty wiiu ...

Yeah of course, it's not a Mario maker edition or whatnot, just normal premium package.

removing the account is the right choice. If you ever get a Wii U again, you could call Nintendo and they may link your account to the New Wii U later if you decide to get one.
