@startropic, NOT A GOOD IDEA, if you have another like freakyhax, oot3dx, and steeldiver
So what should I do? Picking up DQ7 tomorrow. I do have a Gateway 3DS flash card at my disposal. (and the blue Gateway DS flash card, and R4i DS card.)
Oooh, I have Cubic Ninja. I can backup my save through the homebrew launcher and do Ninjhax I guess...

I used ctr-HTTPwn, the 3DS doesn't hound me to update anymore, but can't access eshop.
in order to use that correctly, you have to exit Homebrew, without rebooting, it will give you an option to do that, then the eshop should be available, if you have menuhax, you need to uninstall it.
I think Because i updated the 11.1 first, and then downloading the otherapp bin, and attempting to put it in the Root, is causing the crashing issue, and the steelhax, and freaky to not work. I had no idea, you had to update it with 11.1 otherapp.bin, while you are still in version 11.0

Yea i kinda got the jist of that. STEELHAX works, if you installed with the new payload first.
@plug33, get steelhax on your system, you can use ctrhttp to bypass the eshop, so you can download it.

thank you! I'm gonna try tomorrow. noob question: so after I do that httpwn thing can I still update? lol I read the github read me but it doesn't say, sorry I really am clueless about this stuff

3DS homebrew is so complicated when compared to the PSP

I was able to acess steelhax in 11.1, anyways. however when i used SVDT and selected ORAS it just freezes at the yellow screen. I used svdt on shuffle no problems, entering that game. Anyone have any cluses.
update: nvm, forgot ORAS, and freaky is blocked by 11.1 firmware.
Also a minor problem.
When i boot my homebrew menu, with steelhax, it just goes to the root of the sd card, I had to select boot.3dsx to go to menu, anyone have this issue?

Have you tried JK's Save Manager? It might give you better luck.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
