I have a problem: everytime i launch every version of RxTools (2.6, 3.0 and every nightly build, even the last one) the installation process gets stuck at the third square of the loading bar than shows the INSTALLATION FAILED screen. Then rxTools still boots in emunand but this forces me to wait every time for a process which is assured to fail (not counting the fact that, for this reason, i can't reach the rxTools menu)

it happens via ninjhax and via themehax, even via the browser exploit. With multiple sd cards (the firmware.bin is always downloaded through the script and in the right place)

i can't really figure out the solution.
I'm on 9.2.0 in sysNAND.
Close/Open the 3DS? :v

AGB_FIRM is not installed in either the SysNAND nor the EmuNAND.
It is necessary to have AGB_FIRM installed in at least one of the NANDs. The installation data suite needs that in order to properly parse the Title Key and decrypt the AGB_FIRM copy stored in the firmware.bin file. Otherwise, it'll always fail.

It has not been necessary on my other o3ds. Maybe the reason is i never updated this one via internet? (i did it only via cart)

[EDIT]I installed an agb_firm cia and it finally worked, thanks a lot! I suspect the reason is the updating done only via cart which doesn't install the agb_firm

is coldbooting really worth it? i use Rxtool everyday by booting into the browser and boot into Emunand
You don't need Internet access to coldboot.
He was asking if it is working, not if you need internet access to use it.
You COULD use the browser to install it.

But basically, the Coldboot is done so that you can boot rxTools right when you power on the 3DS, without having to enter any other stuff to enter rxTools.
Just power on, and that's it.

Well, with themehax you have to wait 2 to 4 seconds of blackscreen for sysnand to boot up and theme is exploited. Ideally coldboot should have a chainboot config at hw power on with direct emuNand loading. We're far from that.

Back to my question: Should I expect pasta mode to work on n3ds ? If yes, it isn't working for me. Do I need any special files for that? system details are in my sig. Currently using cbec77e nightly. Open pasta cfw is working fine off hbl btw.

Pasta should boot just fine, I use it in my N3DS through Ninjhax 1.1b.
Exactly how are you trying to boot Pasta?

Pasta cfw is fine. Is Devmode (now known as PastaMode) what is not working for me but I suspect this is known as not working yet (or never) for n3ds.

I thought he was asking if it was worth it. Since he said 'is it worth it' so I gave greatest benefit to it

I already got this one, but would be useful to launch it from rxtools menu instead of fiddling with ctrbootman. I am currently using a modified themehax payload to boot rxtools 3dsx file directly.
ctrbootmananger can boot rxTools directly without that modified rxtools boot.3dsx (it uses the boot.bin inside rxtools folder. It gives even better boot rate as in my test so far). Developers will look at implement Dev mode. For the time being, that mini Pasta is good alternative.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
yes looks like an faulty sd
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    It's always worth a shot
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
  • I @ I-need-help-with-wup-wiiu:
i need help with nusspli failed downloads, can someone respond to my thread? pretty please:wub:
