hello,

first time n00b here.

my buddy accidentally did a system update because he wanted to play Driver, after that my my USB gx loader did not work, it attempted to load, went black and the famous exception DSI occured.

I was running on ver 4.3u before and after the update took place.

Any hope in recovery? FYI, homebrew still works perfectly.

Thanks

Reinstall your cIOSes. Normal system update replaces them with stubs.

It may just be me, but could you be more specific on what you would like help on? (also why are you putting "bought" in quotation marks?)
I mean downloaded ISOs. I can use USB Loader GX or another USB Loader and the games will work for about a day then they just simply wont load :/

Hello everyone!

I start with my first noob question :)
I read a lot of tutorials how to hack the wii and so on...
However, the question arises if it is possible to install the Homebrew apps on the Wii instead of installing them on an extern device (SD or USB).

Maybe someone can clarify that for me?
I didn't find that anywhere.

Once again, I am also here fellow n00b brethren, I don't believe you can play without a SD card or Usb/hard drive :/
Dont quote me tho...

Yes you can, but some apps require files on the SD Card, so they may not work. A simple app such as Wii Browser (an internet browser app) can be installed as a wad onto the system menu. If you want I can show you how.

That is what my question was all about. Is the app stored on my Wii when I use those wad? Which means that I can run them without any device plugged in?

Most homebrew doesn't uses the NAND filesystem at all so there needs to be a way to store settings. Even by injecting the dols into a channel you will need an SD card or USB HDD if you want to do anything useful with the homebrew. :)

Okay I don't have a deep enough insight how computers work.
However to cut the long story short Homebrew isn't designed to use the intern storage of the Wii.
Am I right?

It depends on the homebrew. The HBC channel itself uses NAND storage for its data exclusively. It only reads storage devices looking for other homebrew it can launch.

Most of it just uses SD/USB for data storage.

Hey guys! Brand new member here. I saw this post and had to make an account because this entire website is amazing.
Anyway, it's a long story but I am going to shorten it.
Have an SD card from a messed up Wii. Is there any way to get the channels on this SD card to work on my WiiU's Wii channel without performing mods? Note, the source Wii is f'd up bad so there is no using a Wii Transfer and I have no idea what my account info was on my Wii. It had been sitting in a storage room for years.
Will I have to put homebrew on my WiiU's Wii Channel or is there a way to get past the "can't access this channel on this system" error?
Thanks!

No, sorry. Wii Shop titles are signed with a key that's specific to the console. If you can recover the keys and certificates from the Wii it might be possible.

I would like a Predator game "Kill Team" it takes place in the Jungle of the first movie, your team is sent to hunt the predator, using current tech drones and a trained team. Set traps use strategy to hunt and trap or kill the predator.

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.
