is there some disadvantage in using emulators instead of wads when it comes to virtual console games?
In my experience, N64 wads run a bit better than the N64 emulators available. For all the rest, I prefer the emulators, if only for ease of use and the ability to save snapshots (save states).

However, your mileage may vary - I haven't spent much time playing with N64 emulator settings.

I don't know if this is a noob question but are there still hackers who code Gecko Codes for the Wii?
Geckocodes.org seems to be quite idle. I asked Bully@WiiPlaza and CosmoCortney but they both
aren't interested in making new codes. But I really could need some codes!

Region Lock - is it still an issue ? i remember friend whining about it couple years ago. Just got used wii, figured it could be a pain if i want to play undubs or japanese games.

also SD or hdd ? which is faster for loading ?

Priiloader has an option to bypass region restrictions for everything.

HDD is much faster than the SD slot.

Hey guys, I'm having an issue with Nintendont where when I try load the game (USB flash drive) it just freezes.
This build loads games fine off sd cards and has worked from the flash drive before but for some reason now it just won't load the iso.

Any help would be appreciated!

If it works off the SD card, but not the flash drive, my guess would be the flash drives.

USB flash drives (as opposed to hard drives) seem to be extremely finicky on the Wii. For example, I have 3 8Gb flash drives, all same brand, same model, bought at the same time. One works perfectly, one not at all, and one depends on the phase of the moon...(it randomly works or doesn't).

If you can get a hard drive, use that. Otherwise, stick to the SD card, or try another flash drive until you find one that works.

K, so while i google i noticed pal games seem to be usually interlaced.
Any way to force 480p or should i try and stick to ntsc versions ?

Gonna be using wii2hdmi (inb4 someone tell me i should've gone component, i got edges around connections, it'd be hell of a pain and price was pretty much comparable)

MY TROUBLESHOOTING:
Anyways, I really tried researching before resorting to asking here in the forum because I feel like this problem has been resolved before, but I keep hitting a dead end trying to troubleshoot it myself.

First, I don't think it's an issue with my USB drive. It's not a large external hard drive, but just a small 16GB SanDisk Cruzer 2.0 USB drive. It's formatted to FAT32 through Wii Backup Manager and Nintendon't has no problem getting GCN ISOs off of it. I download region-specific ISOs of the games I have rather than ripping them from my disks. I don't know if this is relevant, but for the two games I'm trying to load through USB Loader GX, Resident Evil's IOS version is IOS33 and Okami's is IOS21 as stated in Wii Backup Manager.

I initially followed HighTeckMan's tutorial on YT for installing the cIOS and USB Loader GX. Tried loading Wii games, but got a black screen.

Then I followed A2Z Geek's "Complete Guide to Hacking the Wii" on YT and actually used the d2x Installer. Still got a black screen.

I saw a forum post in which Cyan was replying to someone with the same problem and he said d2x-v8-final is the latest stable release of cIOS, so I put that on slot 249, base 56 (rev 65535). Still have a black screen.

This is displayed at the top-right of Homebrew: "1.1.2 IOS58 v24.32"
USB Loader GX says this in settings: "Loader's IOS - IOS 249" and "Game's IOS - IOS 249"
USB Loader GX says this in the top-right of 'Credits': "Rev1262 IOS249..." aaaaand it's cut off since I have an old CRT TV, but under it: "(d2x v8final base56).

If you need the cut off part or if you need any more information to diagnose my problem, please let me know. The disk drive on my Wii is out which is why I'm doing this whole thing in the first place.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

@LoserExtraordinaire Replace your IOS249 with d2x-v10beta52 and report back if it doesn't work still. Beta53 is not useful and any guide that recommends using it s wrong. ;)

Thank you very much for the quick reply...Unfortunately, that didn't fix it. Is it right for me to download the cIOS installer from this site: https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers/installation ?

It has beta52 and beta 53 packaged with the download and I'm connected to my WiFi when installing it on the Wii, so it would update itself, correct?

But anyways, what has happened this time around is that when I start up USB Loader GX it stops at "Initialize USB..."
With v10-beta53 and v8-final, I was able to get to the channel menu of USB Loader GX and the channel arts would show up for their respective games.

Do you have your USB drive plugged into the outermost port on your console?

if d2x v8 works, then the port should be right. Anyway, switch back to v8.
check if your isos are not write protected and use Wiibackupmanager to verify the isos' SHA-1.
