So I'm having a problem with True Crime New York City and Nintendont. The game works, but only up until you finish the tutorial part, after frisking the first suspects, the game loads indefinitely for me. Any reason for this? Thanks!

So I started fiddling with the settings. What fixed it was enabling the setting that unlocks the read speed for some reason. I used that, the game loaded passed that part and didn't freeze, then I turned the setting back off after that and all is well! Now I know that that setting could fixed freezes in some games! ;)

That game had serious problems with crashing on original console hardware. It kept crashing on me when I tried to play it on Xbox; it was basically unplayable. You might have a bad image of it, even then, GameCube struggles with it. PS2 was the best console version, but otherwise PC was the only reliable way to play this game.

Yeah this game is one of my favorites! But you're not wrong saying it was a MESS! I have the game on Xbox, bugs everywhere! The whole game is a bug! I got it working with Nintendont and yeah, the GameCube version is far from perfect too! I never played the PS2 version, never owned a PS2 and my PC is AMD hardware, doesn't play nice with PS2 emulation. The PC version was made for OLD Windows, it doesn't work well at ALL on Windows 10 :/

Is there any way to change the order the GC ports on the Wii are recognized? By that I mean my first GC port is broken and some games like 007 Agent under Fire need a controller plugged into port 1 to work.

Quick question - outside of physically modding my classic controller (would be easy but less-than ideal) or recompiling NIntendont with custom modifications (I can't code worth a darn), is there any way to disable the Home button = reset console function?

XBOX 360 Wired
This is only with an adapter, correct? Last I checked, Devolution was the only Wii homebrew that natively supported wired Xbox 360 controllers without any sort of adapter.

Couldn't you just use the official Nintendo WiiU/Switch GameCube-USB adapter? While I've admittedly never tried it on Nintendont (the app simply didn't exist back when I got all my GameCube games set up on my USB drive), I commonly use it with Devolution on my launch Wii console with fully working GC ports combined with a USB extension cord (since that allows me to extend the reach of 4 controllers with only one extension cord, and I only have 1 working GC controller extension cord).

EDIT: While it may be a blasphemous thing to suggest in this thread, if you have the actual game disc and a working disc drive on your Wii (or know somebody with a soft-modded Wii with a working disc drive), then an alternative solution could be to try Devolution since it lets you have wiimote+classic controller (or PS3 or wired Xbox 360) and native GameCube controllers connected at the same time, and you can have the non-GameCube controller be player 1 while the GameCube controller can be player 2.

I realize I might sound like a bit of a Devolution shill in this post, but it's just that, as I mentioned, I set up my Wii and GameCube games with Devolution long before Nintendont ever existed and was never able to get DIOS MIOS working even though I tried multiple times. I do tend to use Nintendont with any new games I add to my USB drive (hence why I'm inquiring at all about the Home button = reset console function; I'm also particularly keen on finally trying out Mario Kart Arcade since none of those exist where I live), but I don't really see much of any reason to move all my existing games over from Devolution if they're already working flawlessly with my Wii's configuration (you know, it's a sort of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of thing).

Yes for 360 wired you still need an adapter but to be honest I just bought a 3rd party GameCube Adapter in the end since I already have x4 Official GameCube Controllers Purple for that authentic feel and is kind of better for games that were designed around the controller Luigis Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine for example they utilise the pressure sensitive Triggers just love how your fingers fit nicely they would be a fine addition with actual Triggers instead of Bumper or shoulder buttons today.

check the options menu to see if there is an option to enable a second memory card
Don't believe there is unless there is a thing to do with the multi setting for the memory card emulation, also when i posted i ment for The Urbz sims in the city not bustin out, i get games confused with another a bunch.

Tested at once?
You mean a controller per USB connected and all works at the same time?

I tried it on regular Wii and only 1 usb works (therefore, 1 controller)
I tried it on WiiU same story
I tried it with HIDtoVpad and same

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
