Homebrew Titles (FBI, Universal Updater, Anemone, etc.) Missing From Home Screen (and possibly 3ds?)

Hi there, this is my first time posting on a thread online and I am a super noob when it comes to CFW (my friend installed it for me) -- I apologize for any confusion.

So last year I went through the modding process completely for my 2DS. After I got everything installed on a new SD card, I wanted to put the content from my old SD card (games, saves, themes, camera roll, etc.) onto the new one. Obviously I should have done that before modding but I didn't think about it.

Anyways, I copied the files from the old sd into the new one (making sure not to overwrite anything?) and I ended up making all of the homebrew applications disappear from the home screen (except for hshop???). I followed the entire process online so they should be on there somewhere, I think, but the only .cia file I can find is FBI. I can access FBI only by using the Rosalina menu (through DS download play). There are a lot of red tickets in the titles folder, I don't know if this means anything. I ignored this problem for a while, since I still had access to hshop and didn't really need to use any of the missing apps for my purposes, but now I want to get the Twilight Menu and I'm pretty sure I need the Universal Updater for that?

I thought about going through the installation/finalization steps again, but I didn't wanna mess anything up in case the files are still on here somewhere. Is there a way to check?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's actually what i recommend doing first, if you can access FBI with Rosalina then just try reinstalling all your homebrew again.

I guess you could just install Universal-Updater and download everything else from there too.

Ok, I went through the installation process again using the link you provided and everything is back on the home screen and functional! I may have been a little overly cautious, haha. Thank you so much!

Just one more question, should I be worried at all about the long list of red title IDs in the Titles folder? Are they safe to erase or is it better to just leave them be?

If everything is working fine i would just ignore it. I've seen people deleting IDs in the past and fucking up their system.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
