  • Finally found a copy of Star Fox v1.2 at my local retro gaming store, Videogame Adventures.

The slanted front like mine is v1.2, the regular older front is v1.0, and you'll likely never run into a v1.1 because it shipped with bugs and not very many copies were shipped out before v1.2 fixed things.

    No idea, I think it's v01...

Yeah last time this cartridge was touched by light I was 10.

    Edit: Deleted pics :]

    Yep, I see "34" on yours. That's a V1.0
v1.1 has two digits with an "A", and v1.2 has two digits with a "B" (as well as a slanted front shell).
Got all the LEDs wired up, now I just need to solder the button contacts to the Arduino, and this baby is ready for action. 💪✨

And Jotego just released the CPS3 beta core today for MiSTer as well, so that's super convenient! 😁

The really cool 30mm buttons arrived from Amazon. Now I'm waiting for the last 4 lame 24mm buttons to arrive from AliExpress. (Coin, Player 1, and side buttons for pinball.)

Overall, this is turning out to be pretty kick-ass.

Got my other 4 buttons in now, and wiring it all up tonight after work.
Building my own arcade stick called J-PAD 8. (Has 8 face buttons)
The encoder will be an Arduino with DaemonBite code on it.
Used a free shell model I found on Thingiverse, and customized the layout.

    >Looks like possibly JTAG on the bottom right as well?
They seem to be connecting to the PIC microcontroller which acts as the SuperCIC to bypass the region lockout.

@SylverReZ Well, the PCB definitely aims less for a "scuffed" aesthetic and more so splashes of colour, the actual board is clearly white, so wear on it would be visible. Not that I can imagine anyone causing damage to the PCB protected by its own shell, but... you know

I'd also like to add that Josh has left his role at Limited Run Games and is no longer in charge, so things at Limited Run Games can only go up from here. Since Josh left, my orders that were late have been getting rushed to me. I've gotten 3 games delivered within a span of 4 months now, and that's awesome.
Sonic Mania has been ported to MiSTer FPGA's ARM side, in both 4:3 and widescreen. It looks amazing with the SNES scanlines filter too, simulating a CRT.

I've really been loving what the dev has been doing for us, and I'm eager to see what else he's gonna port over. I'm not expecting anything crazy, but Cave Story would be nice. The PSX Cave Story port is my current favorite.

This port would definitely be excellent if the decomp team wasn't insane and required rebuilding the engine to unlock DLC, it doesn't prove ownership and makes it impossibly difficult to achieve for anyone lacking building experience or having a setup where building this is nigh impossible, like me...

Yeah, I have the DLC and was wondering why it wasn't showing up... Weird.
I finally finished the most difficult part of my Lain Iwakura cosplay, building a Mini CRT *FROM SCRATCH*. There's a Raspberry Pi Zero inside running PiSignage (digital signage software). It cycles through four different 30-second glitchy clips of Lain that I made.

The new Super Mario movie is good, don't listen to the haters. The pacing is better than last time too. And all the Easter eggs are fairly on the nose this time, instead of "blink and you'll miss it".

Make sure you stay for the after credits scenes.
