Hello.

This was asked and answered before in 2013, but the answer is no longer working. The instruction in that previous thread told how to change the gameID of a game so that a second instance of that game could be installed. The gameID seems to be no longer editable in the way the forum post described.

I have an Animal Crossing town that's existed for years now. I'd like to start a new town while preserving the old town. I believe this necesitates installing a new, second, instantiation of the game. Does anyone know if this is still possible?

Here is the old 2013 topic (new member, so I can't post a URL):
"USB Loader GX 2 of the same games (one moded)"

Thank you!

How about install the game from different region?
Thank you! I didn't see an option for that, aside from buying or downloading an ISO from a different region. I have the original disc and don't want to purchase or download another file.

Anyway, I got it working by modifying a copy of the ISO. Thank you!

Just make a copy of the game and give it a different ID, you can change the game ID with this: Wii_ISO_Renamer

Thank you!

Here's what I was successful doing:

1) Copy the existing wbfs file to a directory on my computer. I wanted to preserve my original.
2) Convert the copied wbfs file to ISO. I used wbfstoiso for this, but I'm sure I could have used Wii Backup Manager instead.
3) Use Wii ISO Renamer to asign a new name and ID to the new copy.
4) Copy the modified ISO back to my USB hard drive, with a new directory name. (See next step)
5) That ISO didn't work, so I used Wii Backup Manager to convert it back to wbfs and put it back on my hard drive in that format.
6) The two games both worked, but they shared a save file, so on one of them, I went into the game settings and changed the EmuNAND Save Mode to "Partial" and defined a location on my SD card for the saved games. Now one instance saves to the Wii NAND, and the other saves to the SD card.

So far, both games are working as they should.

Thank you again!
