So if I'm running 9.9 on us n3ds using ninjhax there's no way I can use the patch until smea updates hans? Also will the game even run on regionfree from home brew launcher or not

Yes region free works. HANS does not. I have US N3DS XL on 10.3 with OOThax. Game is playable enough in Japanese. The difficult part is when you are missing a part for crafting/upgrading and you have to figure out what it is/where to get it.

Ugh that's what I'm afraid of. Well I'm getting MHX as a xmas present so hopefully hans is patched by then :D
Edit: thanks for the info tho

Could we get tiny notes on what is included in the new versions of the patches in the op? I've sifted through a few pages and not found what was included in v2 and 3. In mostly waiting for farm and arts translations before I update if I can help it :)

Thanks again for the patch! Makes it infinitely more playable!

I included the changelog of the past updates in the op.

How close are we to 100% english patched :D?
Nowhere near if you include NPC Dialogs, which are not planned to be translated by us.

Other than that, there should be another update tonight.

This concerns me a bit. What about dialogs that explain to the player how to do certain things, or that are vital to progressing through the story? Are you saying that you will only translate what is needed, or none at all?

Also, I have a some questions about the chat functions.

Is it possible to increase the character count to allow more than a few words?

Is there any way to convey to my Japanese teammates something such as "I need a cool drink" without having it typed in unreadable Japanese? (I guess what I'm asking is, when playing from a patched game, would they be able to read my shout outs in Japanese?)

Is there any progress condition that is not solved by just doing quests and talking to villagers with a speech bubble?

A little bit more concrete maybe? I can't even play the game and this is not really a helpful description. At least state when the dialog comes up and why it is required.
It provides explanations on the different Hunting Styles and Hunter Arts, which are important to understand for knowing how they operate, and how they will affect your game.

The descriptions of the hunter arts are planned, they are not considered npc dialog. As to a explaination of the hunting styles: i wouldn't consider them critical for the reason that most people already know the basics of the hunting styles and they are fairly easily learned by just trying them out. We might translate certain descriptions for them but they have not a high priority right now.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
