So, this is my first time ever posting anything anywhere. I made a little mod to remove the interlacing in Mario Odyssey's handheld mode.
Interlaced 640x720 images

Full 1280x720 image

Instructions:
-Just copy the folder to your SD card under atmosphere/titles

How visible is this difference? I played for a short time and didn't looked like it was interlacing.

Interlacing is hard to catch on screenshots.
I noticed a good difference with it. Instead of interlacing two 640x720 images, it just displays a full 1280x720 image. I saw interlacing mostly around the edges of moving characters, foliage and things in the distance when moving the camera. After changing the file all the edges became crisp and clear, even when panning the camera around.

Screenshots?
I'll try and upload screenshots. Will have to attach them though for now since I'm new.

Wow, this is great, thanks! Do I need to create a sys-clk profile for this at all?

Does this mod have any noticeable performance hit? I was thinking maybe they used interlacing to save resources (by only having to render half of a frame)

Is this mod overclocking the system? I'm trying to avoid that at all cost, because the game looks marginally better with this but I don't want to mess with overclocking issues

This mod does not need overclocking. But in general there are no issues with little overclocking, because the x1 chip in switch is heavy underclocked ;-)

Great mod, difference very notable. You should add that in latest Atmosphere releases, the folder has change, now have to go in /atmosphere/contents folder

Hello, first I wanted to say thank you for this! The game looks amazing in handheld mode now <3 I know this is a long shot, but do you think it would be possible to make the same mod for Super Mario 3D world + Bowser's fury? I would love to play 3D world with the same clean-ness as this mod did for odyssey in handheld mode.

Can you do it for 3d world and bowser fury as well?
LOL, I just asked the same thing! I hope they can make our dreams come true, Odessey looks so good now in Handheld mode <3

UPDATE: I just found a solution brother!!! Use reverse-nx and make the handheld mode switch run in docked, game will look 100% better!

Wow, it looks soooo much crisper with this mod and the game is still running at a constant 60fps, so I don't understand why Nintendo chose to do interlacing, maybe to save some battery

Old thread but bless you OP. The picture quality is pristine now on the OLED. Looks like a Switch Pro type of upgrade tbf.
