Homebrew WiiMC RELEASED!!! (Wii Media Center)

I can understand Tantric's logic behind choose the best IOS as base (in his opinion) to run their apps, it's obvious you could go for the best choice, there's nothing wrong with that, but like xflak mentioned it should healthy for the comunnity enviorement release this new cIOS under a new slot, because many old apps that already use the old 202 probably will never be updated again (for whatever reason).

Or maybe you have it backwards. If Wiixplorer has specific requirements (ie: NAND access), it should use a different IOS slot - eg: 222.

Probably, but we are talking about a homebrew comunnity in which cooperation should be the most important thing, WiiXplorer hasn't been updated in long time, the chances they restart development to change cIOS is very low. I'm not saying that you are wrong, just saying that we all should be flexible about the scene in general.

TBH, the only other apps that use cIOS202 that I can think of are WiiXplorer and MPlayer_CE... and since I don't care about MPlayer_CE anymore (cuz I prefer WiiMC), the only app that needs the older cIOS202 is WiiXplorer.

Frankly, I don't care which app makes the compromise, and either adds a cIOS selection option, or changes the default cIOS slot. I just want to be able to use both.

It seems to make more sense for Tantric's apps to be the one to make the change, only because he has already released cIOS installers, and it wouldn't be much more work for him to have it install to a new slot. Whereas the WiiXplorer team is dependent on Hermes cios installers... hmmmm, that gives me an idea, WiiXplorer uses Hermes cIOS v5 or v5.1 with base57... but Hermes installers have the ability to install the same cIOS to slot 202 or 224 (or 223, but that slot is traditionally base 37 for peripherals)... so it should be very easy for the WiiXplorer team to either change the default IOS used to 224, or add in the option to select 202 vs. 224 (or maybe release 2 versions of the app, like how the cfg usb loader team releases a 222 version and 249 version for each of their updates).

So, in summation, I think it would be easiest for the WiiXplorer team to allow users to select either cIOS202 or cIOS224 (this means that Tantric would be able to have full reign over cIOS202

). Unfortunately, I'm not in close contact with anyone from the WiiXplorer team, but hopefully someone with influence is reading this.

Ah poop...my cousin updated the wii through nintendo and now my homebrew channel is gone along with the goodies...so i was like, ok no big deal i'll just wait tillthe community updates or w/e..

sooo,i go to my wiiMC channel to watch some awesome Sailor Moon and along comes the update, Hoooray!..so iupdated and stuff and so it finishes. reboots and go back..and my HD doesnt appear..where i keep my copies of shows =(

so..i cant do anything about it untill wiimc fixes the stuff which i believe is the next version.

I think Tantric is right here guys, IOS202 according to wiibrew was always deemed an homebrew ios, mostly picked up and imporved upon with mplayer_ce. Hermes gave that option in his installers as well, not really sure why. But at any rate I've spoke with dimok and he will not be changing ios wiixplorer uses by default nor can he add an ios selection cause settings can be on usb and it will need to load mload/ehcimodule before it can access usb with 2.0 and have the extra compatibility it gives with some HDD's before it could read the settings so its not feasible.

I made a personal compile of latest wiixplorer to use ios222 and it works flawlessly channels and all. (Hermes v4 base38 merge 37, which is dimok's reccomendation)

EDIT: WiiXplorer Triple 2 works flawlessly, launch it from my forwarded, and run smooth heh. Could I request you a new build when Gamecube disc reading is ready? =P
