How would I write a plugin for this game?
You need Visual Studio or a programmer that knows either Vb.Net or C# to write a plugin using the KuriimuContract DLL.

That will allow the editor to open the bin file and show the strings and let you edit them and then save the file.

Keep in mind that it's early days for Kuriimu and the file adapter code isn't 100% yet. It still needs a way to identify files.

Oh this is so cute! Would have never heard of this game without this thread. Thank you for taking the time to work on your translation. Love discovering little games like these from fans.

I would love to play this but I can't find the cia file anywhere :( All I've found have been 3ds files, but I'm not sure if its possible to convert that to cia and patch it..

Randomkid150, Hi I am an expert in Sumikko Gurashi, in fact, I translated the first book completely and I'm in the process of translating the 2nd one. I wanted to see if you can include a few characteristic from my books to the game. That will mean a lot to me :) I'm still adding new stories and characteristics to the main creatures (I call them mummucius (mummu chu) and all of them have more relatable names :)

Good day! I have problem trying to patch the game.
I found few .cia (3DS1717 (Rev 2) and 3DS1161), but all the cias give me the same error when I'm trying to patch them: "xdelta3: target window checksum mismatch: XD3_INVALID_INPUT"
Can somebody please point me what game version should I use to make patch work?

Ok i fixed this problem !!
here what i did : ( use the software Deltapatcher instead of the one from OP )
1- download DeltaPatcher (google it it's easy to find )
2- copy both the xdelta and the cia file in the Deltapatcher folder.
3-Open original file ( Sumikko gurashi cia)
4- open delta patch ( .xdelta file)
5- next to apply patch click the small icon : uncheck Checksum validation and check Backup original file
6- press apply patch
7- a sumikkoPatched.cia is created this is the file you need to rename to 00152A00.romfs

(If you want to use it with Luma3DS do as follow):
8-download CTRTOOL ( https://github.com/profi200/Project_CTR/releases )
9- copy 00152A00.romfs in the CTRTOOL folder
10-open a cmd.exe in that folder and type :
ctrtool --romfsdir=romfs 00152A00.romfs
11- wait and a romfs folder is created.
12-copy the romfs folder in your luma/titles/titleIDofSumikko/* <- copy here
13-enable game patching
14-install sumikko gurashi cia
15- launch and enjoy the magic happen :)

Hello. I'm currently working on a translation for Sumikko Gurashi - Here You Settle Down. It's kind of like a pet simulator kind of thing, but with cuter animals.View attachment 42002
I will update this thread when I translate more of it.

DOWNLOADS:
Version 7 Patch --> Here

WHAT YOU NEED
:
A CIA of the game. [Don't ask me where to get it. Just google it.]
The Patch
xdelta and xdeltaUI [You can get both these files from here.]
Hans [Should have came with the starter pack.]
Homebrew Launcher.cia [Download from here if you don't have it]

PATCHING:
1. Place your CIA and the Patch into the xdeltaUI folder.
2. Open xdeltaUI and press "Open" next to Patch and select the patch file.
3. Press "Open" next to Source File and select the CIA file.
4. Press the "..." next to Output File and call it 00152A00.romfs
5. Press Patch and let it do it's thing!
6. The resulting file should be 169,040 KB big or somewhere around there.
7. Go to your SD card and place the .ROMFS in to the Hans folder. If you don't have one, make a new folder on the root of your SD card and call it hans.
8. Boot into your Emunand and install the Game, [If you don't have it installed yet.] and also install the Homebrew Launcher.cia using your desired installer.
9. Go to the Homebrew Launcher through Emunand and open Hans. Select "Sumikko Gurashi" and press A.
10. When Hans is loaded, go down to where it says "Romfs -> SD" and change it to "Yes."
11. Go down to "OK" and press A.
12. If you did everything right, the game should load!

WHATS NEW:
Only Graphics of Memory Theater Translated*
Only Graphics of Research Diary Translated*
The entire Photo Studio is translated (Except System Text)*
More graphics translated
More titles translated

*There are .bin files that contains Text that NEEDS to be translated, like the shop item names, the panel names, Memory Theater names, etc. But the problem is, I don't know how to open these .bin files. I can't really translate the game 100% if I can't open these files. I linked these files on page 2 of this thread if you want to take a crack at them.

WHATS BEEN TRANSLATED
:
Loading Screen Logo is translated
Mood Gauge is translated
"Next", "Close", etc. Buttons are translated.

I'm on 11.3 and my Luma version is 7.0 or 1. I forgot but its 7. I can't upgrade cause i'm afraid I might mess up.

Alright I did the steps but I don't know if it will work because my Luma is at the old version which is 7.0(or1). I mean will it still work even tho my Luma is at 7?

That usually happens when you try to patch a CIA that is all messed up or the game is already patched. I think that the CIA might be corrupted or messed up and that's why its not patching.

All traces of the Original CIA unpatched has been wiped online. I can't find the original CIA, and all threads about it have been deleted for some reason.

I managed to do all of this, and I see the loading screen in english, but it crashes immediately after. I'm using Luma 9 and firmware 11.6-039. I do get a message that there's an update for the game, so I wonder if I found the correct version of the ROM. I got "3DS1717 - Sumikko Gurashi - Koko ga Ochitsukundesu (Japan) (Rev 2).3ds" and then converted to .cia onboard the 3DS using godmode9. Kind of lost somewhere in this process. Can we just get a romfs folder containing all, or only the modified files? It might be simpler to dump the cia contents and replace the modified files than it is to use the xdelta file (for which I got the same error, and used DeltaPatcher with Checksum Validation turned off) especially now that Luma takes a folder instead of a single .romfs file...

I really want to play this game. I may have to finish learning Japanese as a last resort.

Thanks!
Dan

Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway

    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
