Hey GBATemp!

It seems like there is some interest for theming, so I decided to make my own theme manager, it's currently in a very early state, but it works and it's much better than rosalina or doing it manually, you can have multiple themes at the same time.

Themes are located in sd:/wii/themes/[theme name]
inside [theme name] put the Men.pack and MEn2.pack files

Please use it and let me know what you think, it's totally safe to use

Use the one I attached or get the latest build from github: https://github.com/Xpl0itU/theme-manager/releases

Thanks so much guys! I made a new release and a release post, so go there and give it some love https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-theme-manager-a-theme-manager-for-the-wii-u.611112/
I tested ftp'ing themes a week ago or so, since so many people were bricking with tiramisu. I wasn't sure if it was tiramisu or not. anyway, I had no problems until I tried to revert back. not sure what happened, but when I tried reverting back to the dark, blue theme, the system bricked. it would freeze on the wiiu logo, so I went into the homebrew channel and corrected it. no issues now. what's odd is that the byte size was correct when that brick happened as I always check that.

You shouldn’t have any issues with theme manager, it shares a lot of code with the wut port of savemii, which is really safe and never had any problems

I do remember wut very well. I have that folder in devkitpro. I couldn't get certain things to make install in windows, so I did make install in linux, and it worked without issue. as a result, I copied and pasted the compiled files to the wut directory in windows, so now apps that required wut can be compiled in both windows and linux on my machine. :D

btw, I managed to compile savemii mod as well a while back. with the make install of wut and libgui (iirc), it was getting stuck at transferring the files. they would compile correctly just windows wasn't cooperating. :P I copied the wut directory of my linux drive to windows, and no issues after that with compiling any of that or bloopair or launchiine or even tiramisu.

I assume one is for the normal screen and one is for wara wara plaza, so a men.pack may not be needed.
Not exactly. Both files have elements that affect both the menu screen as well as the wara wara plaza screen. The person that made the rainbow theme, just appears to not have made any changes to the elements of men.pack, it still functions as it's own theme all the same.

Fact of the matter is, there are probably more files that could be edited to change other parts of the Wii U theme, such as the menu screen that pops up when you hit home, or the quick launch menu screen on the game pad. But I never really looked too hard to find where this content is stored.
