I had a pretty decent mariokart 8 savefile, and then I looked up a 100% savefile of the game, and installed it with savemii. When I booted up the game, everything was gone except the dlc and 200cc and mirror mode. What should I do?

SaveMii is an unbrick dongle for Wii and it uses the GC memory card slot which the Wii U doesn't even have.
You probably meant Saviine.

after reading the op again, I'm sorry to say but your save file is gone unless you backed it up. the save file is overwritten when using an app such as this.

Did you get to backup your old savefile? Savemii asks you to do so before attempting to inject a new one.
Also, oficial savemii has some issues with restoring, so maybe this fork should work.
I think @GabyPCgeeK should make a pull request so that her changes are pushed into an official release.

To your credit, we asked the dev for a name change to particularly avoid this kind of situation, but he ignored us. So we'll forever be running into situations like this one :/

Couldn't came up with a new name yet, sorry :/

personally, I use system config tool to backup saves, saviine to restore them. and savegame manager gx (beta) for wii saves both restore and backup. I have all saves backed up on my laptop's two or three external hdds just to be safe. :)

I had already backed it up but I thought I had moved the backup over to my pc but I actually didn't, but I did think I was safe because I had backed up the save onto a usb using data manger in wiiu setting. But, whenever I tried to move over the data, I got an error and had to turn off the console and I could only copy it back. But, before I copied it back to the wiiu, I did notice that data manager didn't even show any savedata mariokart 8 on the system memory. So, what I'm asking is, what did I do wrong to get the opposite affect of inject a 100% save.

I understand. It's hard coming up with new names. Maybe go simple like, "Save-U Manager". It doesn't have to be clever :P

maybe due to the fact that the save and game should be on the same partition to begin with? saves and games should be in the same place. have u tried saviine? u need a save already intact to do that though.

Sorry, but I actually did have a backup. I don't know how I forgot about it. But, whenever I tried to restore it, it successfully restored it but nothing happened to the actual save, it just didn't do anything, it didn't actually restore my save, so now my save isstuck like this, so is there anything I can do?

there's no common file name(s) for saves. I don't know how savemii does it, but u can see this with saviine and system config tool. I think they're both just copying the save folder(s)/file(s). both r compatible with each other, so I assume savemii is the same way. try injecting the save with savemii. system config tool is supposed to allow this, but the one circling the web doesn't for some reason, so injection only with saviine.

What do you mean by on the same partition?

Also, I did try Saveiine first, but it never connected the wiiu when booting, probably because of my wiiu's very poor wifi connection and lack of ethernet.

I mean the game and the save need to be on either the usb or the mlc.

not sure what could be going wrong with saviine. u need to input your computer's ip address. when u connect, the system will freeze until you click okay/confirm on the pc.

In that case they were both on th same partition, the game was on a disc, and the save was in the mlc
Also with saviine, the game takes longer to load, but the pc and the wiiu never actually find each other and connect, it just sits there listening for the wiiu until eventually the wiiu just loads the game, and they never connect to each other.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.
