PicoDrive for 3DS v0.94 - Blue GEN / SMD Style Edition

    [IMG] [IMG]

    Credit and thanks goes to...

    What is this?
OoOo, so special (not). You changed out the blue for another blue. That's it?
    Yup. :creep:

Where's the Sega / Genesis / Mega Drive retro soul in this one? I don't feel the warm, fuzzy nostalgia.

Except for a bit of Dreamcast, I didn't grow up playing Sega video games. My personal experience with the Genesis or Mega Drive is zilch.

This emulator (like the previous two) was edited based on what colors the physical systems came in and from what little marketing material, advertisement, and commercial I could find about them.

This may have been a bad idea from the start because (surprise, surprise!), most home console video game systems are black as their default color and secondary colors (if there was any at all) are either grayscale or red [usually]. Cue getting called out as "You're a consolist! Not all of them are black. You should be ashamed of yourself!". You can add filthy casual to that accusation as well since I hardly play video games these days, lol.

Also, this system was made in multiple varieties. See here. Finding colors that meshed together was going to be problematic from the start.

If this fork of Picodrive looks butchered, too similar from Bubble's original build, or the colors seem like they were recycled from snes9x and virtuanes, just know this wasn't intentional.

    Update Changes Log

    Alternative Series
    • Snes9x - [1]
    • VirtuaNES - [2]
    • PicoDrive - [3]
    • TemperPCE - [4]

Theres any way to get the FM soundtrack of Pier Solar running on the Mega CD with Sega Genesis version of the game running like the actual hardware?

GG is either retroarch or VC injects. The latter does a better job with scaling IMO.

Pretty sure this should work for Game Gear.

Picodrive won't. Even though it supports master system.

    Dude, you're a lifesaver!

I tried playing Game Gear games on my R4i Gold 3DS RTS flashcart with ApprenticeMinusDS emulator but gave up shortly after. While it works well, there's too many directories to get the games: (HOME Menu > launch flashcart > launch emulator *.nds > navigate to closest GG rom folder > scroll down to find your rom > launch rom).

Hi, I have a problem with the rom:
Micro Machines Turbo Tournament 96 (Europe) (J-Cart).

it does not work, is there a fix or a patched rom?

    Thank you.

Look for that hustler site. Those marked red won't work with PicoDrive 3DS but the ones in green will.

    CRC32 Hash - File Name
    • 23319D0D - Micro Machines 96 (V1.1) (E) (J-Cart) [c][!].bin
    • 74FF1139 - Micro Machines 96 (V1.1) (E) (J-Cart) [h1C].bin
    • 9E5840A5 - Micro Machines 96 (V1.1) (E) (J-Cart) [h2C].bin
    • 66F93FF0 - Micro Machines 96 (V1.1) (E) [h1C].bin
    • BF3BBEEE - Micro Machines 96 (V1.1) (E) [h2C].bin
    • 3137B3C4 - Micro Machines 96 (V1.1) (E).bin
Edit - If it has to be a J-Cart rom, the NSUI can create a Virtual Console *.cia using the RetroArch Genesis Plus GX forwarder injection method.

I searched for one of the 3 roms, in green. I found them 3:
and the 3 versions work correctly. How is the 3 versions different?

    thank you very much.

It's a game that has given me problems in some megadrive emulators.

I don't think Jcart is supported. The ROMs have been hacked to act as the non-Jcart ROM does.

Nope, only Gen/MD and Master System.
There are some GG games converted to run on MS though (Sonic Triple Trouble and Sonic Drift 2, for example).

Speaking of Game Gear emulator, would it be possible use ApprenticeMinusDS v0.4.0 in conjunction with TWLightMenu? *

    * without flashcart.

Yes. The nds-bootstrap build for homebrew would have to support it first.

Picodrive Libretro for O3DS users (though it lags in some Genesis games whereas Bubble's runs most games at fullspeed) and Genesis Plus GX (although you need an N3DS to run games at fullspeed). Both are part of Retroarch which you can download from here. Go to the latest version, into Nintendo, then 3DS.
