    I still have no idea.

    The actual name was referring to Windows 8 and the OS's uncertain future at the time - it would've been "Fate of Windows" if it was grammatically correct, but "for" rolled off the tongue better and made it easier to abbreviate (sometimes went by F84Win). I switched over to Desko on most sites a while back, but looking to change that eventually too.
