Homebrew [RELEASE] NTRLDR - DS firmware on the 3DS

Can I load NTRLDR itself via nds-bootstrap? I know loading firmware.nds won't work, but will NTRLDR work?

Doesn't seem to want to cooperate with nds-bootstrap.
(You can use nds-hb-menu installed as a CIA though)

for me when i launch it it takes me to a black screen that says NTRLDR (Release 9) Written by dr1ft/UTP and then continuously flashes from a white screen to that over an over using an R4i Gold 3DS RTS Rev 7

Did you name NTRLDR to firmware.nds...
firmware.nds is not NTRLDR. firmware.nds is a separate file that NTRLDR is supposed to load.

Yeah, that won't work. That will just cause an infinite loop where it starts itself over and over. You need firmware.nds which is a completely separate file. You can download it from archive.org very easily.

I have nothing to do at 4am & wanna try this! I have the R4i Gold 3DS Plus, would it be possible to do so with that? Since i saw you mention you did it with a flashcart.
Also, a tutorial maybe on how to do get this to work, where to place files etc.

firmware.nds is the NDS firmware (I presume the GUI portions??) bundled into an .NDS file.

You can actually find it here on the temp without a torrent link, somebody posted an obfuscated link to it but if you know your way around mega.nz then it's pretty easy to get, and though it was pointed out to be illegal, it wasn't taken down. I was just wondering if it's actually a good firmware.nds.

No. It's the exact original.

Consider it a romhack (since the original is self-decompressing from the DS/Lite wifi card's eeprom)

The original doesn't have .nds headers (not that the ones of the .nds port are very good)

This was converted from the original with allegedly significant manual work (but you'd have to ask Olimar/Loopy)

There's no single original in the first place due to the conversion process (the eeprom also includes wifi calibration data, network and system settings)

The fact it ignores any inserted game may or may not be an intentional mod (YSmenu also has an "exit" feature with the same "limitation", surely a positive thing considering it was designed for autoboot flashcards)
