Are you talking about longevity or content? Your points are scrambled and it's hard to follow.

It's far too early to worry about what route they're wanting to take.

    Nier automata
    Final fantasy xv
    Cuphead
    Nioh
    Horizon zero dawn
    Breath of the wild
    Super Mario odyssey
    Yooka-Kaylee
    A hat in time
    Persona 5
    Yakuza 0
    Xenoblade chronicles 2
    Mass effect Andromeda
    Tekken 7
    Halo wars 2
    Hellblade
    A night in the woods
    Mario + rabbids
    Prey
    Uncharted the lost legacy
    Resident evil 7
    Sonic mania
    Golf story
    Forza 7
    Dirt 4
    Hit man complete
    Assassins creed origins
    Wolfenstein 2

The Switch has a pretty good shwoing, but lack of AAA multiplats does hurt it.

The world, gameplay, and story. Like a movie, a game can be too long or too short, but if the content is good then it's alright. But content and its quality are highly subjective. So I prefer to talk about individual aspects that affect the game and how a consumer interacts with it, and how a developer builds the game for that consumption.

It's never too early to worry, just ask all those divorced men in the world who would have loved to see their wife in the 18 wheeler coming towards them at 100MPH.

Now you're going off in a completely different tangent. That last part has no relevance to the topic and was a bit morbid in all honesty.

Well, that's because we have kinda reached a natural conclusion to the conversation. You said your piece, I said my piece, we reached some middle ground, had some differing views, but ultimately I feel that we both came to the same overall conclusion apart from the fact that I feel it best to postulate these things far in advance, but its okay not everybody like to over analyse things.

PS, divorce is rarely ever not morbid, very few guys get out clean, and very few ever get over the depression and rebuilt to a point that they are happy that the old ball and chain is gone, even with the price being so high.

    How'd that happen so fast? thonk.png /s
In all honesty, I think it's great for Nintendo that the Switch has sold this much, this fast. Really shows that they're going in the right direction.

I'm very much in agreement when it comes to my stance on home consoles and games exclusivity, and that's actually the largest part of why I bought the Switch in the first place. It's the only console this generation which actually provides users with a different gaming experience than a PC (by way of its portability, mostly), and I very much wanted to support the effort to fill a niche not already dominated by the PC while also shunning those whose sole purpose for existing seems to be to suck up exclusives and charge gamers a ~$300 entry fee just to have the luxury of paying another $60 to play them. In that sense, I feel like games which make use of the console's features in a way that distinguishes themselves significantly enough from those experiences on other consoles are at least somewhat justified in being on said system, even if I think that many of the features in Nintendo's consoles could, and even should, be easily brought to PC gaming through peripherals.

That aside, I don't really resonate with the idea of games within a certain genre being reasonably interchangeable with one another at all. If I want to play Fire Emblem, Disgaea won't soothe that itch; if I want to play Super Mario Sunshine, Jak and Daxter won't do anything to satisfy that desire, etc. It's for that reason I think that I put much less emphasis on a console having a vast swath of titles, but rather specific titles I'm interested in. The fact that I have a very pointed taste in games also probably plays a large factor in that as well, but that's just me. As someone whose main enjoyment of the Switch comes from its hardware features, it feels like the reticence of 3rd party developers to bring their games to the Switch is on them and not Nintendo. With an install base so large, and one that built so quickly to boot, I don't see any reason why 3rd party developers should be so cagey about supporting the console. As far as I'm concerned, Nintendo have made me the right playground, filled it with people, and now it's up to the other developers to fill it with fun equipment.

I get it, I mean Nintendo cornered a gimmick that has a genuine universal appeal that isn't about to fade away when the general public gets bored (like the Wii's appeal with motion control), because its a feature that we're all going to enjoy for years to come. The Switch had a strong first year, and will continue to have strong years as long as it keeps doing what it does so effectively, and the games stay on par overall with the quality that it's been receiving. I think at this point its a given that Nintendo's next system will be a direct successor to the Switch, the Super Nintendo to the Switch's NES, just naming it the Switch 2 would seem reasonable.

We always hear how nintendo sells like shit off a stick, the wii did, but for sure it lacked the great titles.

also its common for nintendo to be off to a good start, but it lacks the ability to keep the momentum going over the years.

as for its claim of great titles...... hmmm id love to see where these are, i mean you can walk in to any video game store and find nintendo section has what 5+ games on a tiny shelf, so is it these crappy indy apps that nintendo are claiming to be excellent titles.

the switch is 9 months old and you want an entire shelf of games srs...

here in portugal ps4 has a huge shelf on sors, nintendo has a small shelf for switch and 3ds but the xboxone has even a smaller shelf, it seems they just dont care for xb1 in europe here, it has even less shelf space than nintendo this gen.

the switch is 9months old, but to claim it has masses of excellent games...... where the hell are they.

so nintendo clearly chatting shite here, this is a typical nintendo console to me, its why i dont love them as much as i used to, since launch its lacked anything worth buying.

but again to claim it has loads of excellent games, yet any game shop has next to no games on shelfs..

think my eyes tell me the truth here, plus the fact i own just 2 games since launched and i only bought mario just to get some use out of this over priced paper weight.

It does have a ton of excellent games but you probably ignore a lot of them because of "Ewww.. Indie games... How dare they! How dare they be indie! I think I'm going to be sick! INDIE!"

You do realize bigger developers such as Platinum is going Indie... Cause all indie fucking means is "Doesn't have a publisher."

So, since YOU have issues with the games, they're not good? By that logic all consoles suck.

So people are still willing to buy an underpowered, overpriced console, for the purpose of playing a handful of exclusives, and enabling Nintendo to continue making shitty hardware. That's just great.

It's the most powerful portable ever released, and the purpose is to play all modern games. The fact that it's portable means it's not another useless half-PC like the other consoles.
