Nintendo lets Japanese players mix and match their choice of Joy-Con colors in custom Switch bundle

daO9nAj.png

In the years following the Nintendo Switch's launch, which came with just two different Joy-Con color combinations, Nintendo has since released different Joy-Cons for every color of the rainbow. To get ahold of these colors, though, you'd need to buy them in pairs, usually with alternating colors. For prospective Switch buyers in Japan, that isn't the case, as Nintendo has an online bundle that allows users to customize what color Joy-Cons and straps they'd like to come with their Nintendo Switch system.

Called "Nintendo Switch Customize", this webpage on the Japanese Nintendo Store lets you, as the name suggests, customize your Nintendo Switch, to a degree. You get to pick your left and right Joy-Cons from 10 different options, such as neon red, blue, yellow, green, and other officially released colors, as well as seven different options for the attachable wrist-straps. Then, you choose what size of mirco SD you want bundled,--anywhere from 32GB to 512GB--what first-party games you'd like, an option to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, a carrying case, and a Switch Pro Controller.

The final option is whether or not you'd prefer the older version of the Nintendo Switch, or a newer one, with improved battery. Those that choose the older model are given a ¥3,000 voucher, which converts to about $30, for the Nintendo Store, to compensate.

Nintendo previously offered this service for Japanese customers in 2018 and 2019, though it was only available for a limited time, and quickly sold out.

I can't think of a single good reason why Nintendo hasn't offered official NES/SNES/N64/GCN themed joycons yet. That'd be the only way I could possibly justify spending $80 on a new pair. I guess they just hate money, or they're saving that until Switch is closer to the end of its lifecycle.

Huh; interesting. I wonder if these have fixes to address the drifting joystick issue.

As for "older model", that's not the launch version that has the exploitable RCM, which means it's...not as useful.

This is marking its return, after quite a long time of not being available.

Or the Switch 2.

Can you choose a custom direction of your joycon stick drift?

You can set it to direct the drift in the direction of your ass where it tries to subtly tell you to shove the single Joy-Con through! XD

Choosing your JoyCon colors has always been available in Japan. This is nothing new.

I live in Japan and ordered my Switch from Nintendo back when they were unpatched and was able to choose my JoyCon colors.

I'm over here thinking the same. There's so much they could have done. The only decently themed system they've got is the ANIMAL Crossing one. No true special edition joycons and a wasted potential in the retro market.

I have two launch switches, one banned and one not. Both have the rcm exploit, but I've repused to use it on my stock one. My girlfriend wants a new switch, and I hope it's one of the new Mariko units with better battery life. We don't want those old iPatched "in-between" Switch models.

they really should offer this in the US
and also anyone who has to go through the bother of sending in their joycons for drift issues should automatically be given a choice of what color they want sent back to them ,it really is the least Nintendo could do for people who have been inconvenienced by having to send back their faulty product for repair ,
they should have been the 1st one offered this option

Locking multiplayer to joycons is what made me pass on Mario Party Switch. I've already got Mario Party for other systems which I own multiple controllers for, so there's just not much appeal there.

they need to have a strong line up on the launch titles too. I think they should move metroid prime 4 to the next console because by now it has been quite a while and there's no release date scheduled yet

well as far as metroid prime 4 is concerned, the next system probably is similar enough to the current gen they can probably easily just slap it onto a next gen cart and call it good :P
