Work appreciated, definitely. But that doesn't change the fact that we have a half finished emu and are left twisting in the wind. What direction will we take now?

So let's see who'll work on it.

I just tried to compile the current github source, first minor problem was a clash of the definition of PrintConsole in the gameyob source with a different definition in libctru (maybe from a libctru update). Easy/ugly workaround was to rename all instances to gyPrintConsole, someone tell me if there's a more elegant solution.

So now it compiles, displays the rom menu, but freezes up when I select one. Suggestions anyone? :)

The more elegant solution would be to simply use libcrtu's built-in console support. I imagine it wouldn't be terribly difficult to get gameyob working with it.

Edit: I went ahead and forked GY on Github, but I dunno if I'll mess around with it much. At the very least it'd be nice to have it compiling with built-in console support.

So what exactly is the reason-- the whole reason-- for abandoning the project? Make it clear for us. Are you just bored with it, have more important matters taken over, was there a C&D from Nintendo, what? I just don't get it.

I first released gameyob in early 2013, so that's a fair while to be working on a project, at least for me. My motivation to work on this comes in short spurts that just keep getting shorter, and I don't see any signs of that changing. It's starting to feel like a chore. So basically, yes, I've gotten bored with this. It's something I don't really want rattling around in the back of my head anymore.

Part of it could be that I feel like I almost finished with gameyob DS, and gameyob 3DS wouldn't be that huge of an improvement. I'm still considering making a final stability release for gameyob DS or something, but no plans to keep working on the 3ds version...

Well even if you feel that the DS version is finished, could you at least bring the 3DS version up to par with it? Or is in not so easy to add those missing features?

That was kind of the plan, but it's not so simple really. All the frontend stuff like graphics and sound had to be redone. Scaling / fullscreen will take a bit of work and the audio isn't quite up to snuff. Most of the core features are still there like cheats, save states, etc. Though the bios feature is broken iirc.

Well, I got gameYob to compile with minimal fuss using the built-in ctrulib console functions (read as: I disabled all of the menus and compiled gameyob as a really big hello world for now). Now I just have to hook it all up to the menus and stuff. That should be a nice solid base to begin working from.
