Although... It should be a must though, surely?

As I usually use CFG USB Loader and it could be useful.
I wouldn't be to sure. CFG has a more limited scope than the other loaders and is not being developed very actively at the moment.
As soon as I jump into the DML band wagon, it's back to wiiflow for me. What I like about CFG is that its appearance is more refined; compare, for instance, its game info screen to that of wiiflow's. However, wiiflow is a lot more functional, and with FIX94's involvement it has gained much welcomed flexibility (works again with Crap shortcuts, forwarder ISO's, supports DML, etc.).

However, back to the topic:
Must DML be installed in order to launch the SD card testing app? How is it launched?
Also, the google code page says that is stores the results on an SD card through a USB-Gecko.
Does it also show the results on the screen?

Looking at your post, you REALLY should look into the latest usb loader gx.
Light years ahead....

Nand channel loading
Nand emu channel loading
Nand emu save emulation ( saves right on usb or sd! )
ALL thinkable options right from the intuitive gui.
Installation/ deinstallation of .wads on emunand.
Dumping of saves to emunand. batch or per game.
Dumping of nand right from the gui.
Fully customizable path options( share covers with other loaders for instance etc...)

Offical forwarder available
99% compatible with Wii games, Nand channel limited only because of cios.
MORE options than ANY loader, but very well organized and lockable with parental controls.
No need for external PC apps to set options. All is managable from the gui.

DML support ( great! )
In the very near future, game banner support. Play official game banners ( there is allready a demo of this, it's awesome )
extensive parental controls, details section of EVERY game this includes 3d real time covers, game info etc.

And btw a lot of GC games look really good! ( beyond good and evil, windwaker, starfox adventures, mariokart DD, Paper mario, F Zero GX... all TOP Productions)

I think i have the latest usb loader gx (ver 2.3) but i cant find in it the dml launch option. I have used neogamma for dml. How can i start the dml in the loader gx? Thx!

Here's the latest (r1152), just remember that it's a beta so there may/may not be bugs. If game banner support is what you're looking for... it hasn't been implemented yet.

Still on r36, no problems.
So now I know that Almost ALL NTSC GC games support Progressive scan?
Time to get some NTSC games.....

Here's the latest (r1152), just remember that it's a beta so there may/may not be bugs. If game banner support is what you're looking for... it hasn't been implemented yet.

Sorry if my question is answered before but I tried to use DML with no success.Until now I was using Swiss with my Wii (via WiiPower's excellent Swiss Booter from HBC) and I am actually pretty impressed with Emu_kidid's work.But I also tried DML.I have already installed cIOSX d2x ver7 in the corresponiding slots and RVL-MIOS-V10.wad.

So,I followed the guide,installed DML r21.wad from ModMii,extracted the games with DiscEx and after that I tranfered them to my 32gb SD card.
Using NeoGamma's latest beta,NeoGamma found the games normally (that is proof that my folder structure was correct),I put an original GC game in Wii's drive and launched the game.But unfortunately the Wii had a hard reset.
After that,I decided to launch Swiss again and there was my second dissapointment.Swiss Booter could not load Swiss menu at all.I panicked.I re-installed RVL-MIOS-V10.wad (I suppose this wad overwrites DMLr21) and after that everything has returned to normal.Swiss Booter was jut fine.
After 3 days from my first attempt with DML,I have 2 questions as I want to try DML again and be a part of the community.

-What have I done wrong?Has anyone got an idea?

-Is it possible to use both DML and Swiss in real nand or not?I hate the thought that in order to use one you have to sacrifice the other.

Hmm...I sorta had that situation this morning. In the end, I had both working and a GC memory card that became corrupted.

Let's see if I can reconstruct things...

Ever since I started using DML, swiss no longer worked. I assumed, like you, that they both use different versions of the MIOS (RVL-MIOS-V10 vs DMLr40[MIOS-v10]) and are as such mutually exclusive.

Yesterday evening, wiipower said I was wrong in my logic. So I went back to testing things.

I had to follow the entire "how to use swiss" guide from the start to get it working again. Result: swiss worked, DML didn't. And my memory card acted up.

So I reinstalled the DML wad a second time. Result: DML worked...swiss as well. And the memory card probably needs to be reformatted (so far no replies in the thread I made about it).

In the end...yeah. It's doable. But I'd make sure to have at least a proper backup of your memory card (or leave that unplugged until you can get them both running).

A small note: while I am using an emulated nand to boot both swiss and DML, the dol isn't adapted to be installed on that emu-nand (yet). So the end result is most likely that all the stuff from the real nand is used.

...and a second note: I only now read that fix94's modification of DML (which I also use) can cause an error on the memory card. So it may have been the DML wad that caused it and not the installation shenannigans I did. Very hard to tell for sure. :unsure:

First of all,I have not used emu nand at all.And it seems very difficult for me to try it.

So,every action I have made was utilising Wii's real nand.Are you suggesting to try the same process one more time and having GC memory card in slot A removed?

And one silly question.Is it possible to install DML wad to a different slot just to make sure it does not overwrites RVL-MIOS-v10 wad?

I just checked the regular version on PAL paper mario, and it seems to work fine. The compatibility list mentions "with r30 32Gb class 10 64Kb freeze when curtain closing"...but I played long enough for some battles and the corresponding curtains to close (8GB class 10 64k cluster size SD card here).


@[member='panmusic']: I can only describe what I did (btw: I was talking about this guide to install/use swiss) and what results it gave.
Oh, and I forgot to mention: at the end, it loaded swiss.dol from on the SD card in the SD-gecko (located in the root of that SD card), not the one in :\apps\swiss\swiss.dol.

Perhaps start with that: make sure you've got updated files for swiss. And if you really want to help out the community, then by all means: try it. If everyone's going to avoid things until everyone else has tested it, it obviously won't be tested. ;)

It's not possible to install it to another slot*, but if I understood wiipower correctly, it shouldn't interfere with swiss either. And that I'm looking at swiss's boot screen while just having playtested Paper Mario on DML proves that both can co-exist.



*okay, not entirely true. I've heard that if you modify one line of source code and compile it, you can have the DML wad run on an emulated nand. But without emulated nand, it's not going to happen.
