Hi gbatempers,


Since this great game (and the upcoming sequel) won't be translated in french I decided to work on my own translation.

Here is a picture of my Work in Progress :




Well the big part now is tile editing (graphics menus).

I start this project because I wanted to play ROM Hacking without making a 100th NSMB custom.

Indeed, it's very funny, you feel like Champollion !!

I almost forgot, a big thanks to the man of this board who write "GBA/DS ROM hacking" (sorry I forget your nick bud)

I joined a french team that was already working on this translation (http://aai-fr.keuf.net/).
I'll post feedbacks here to let you konw our progress.

Before releasing our first patch we need to solve litlle issues.

First I need to left align text of some buttons.
I managed to do it by changing the OAM datas of sprite's x.
See here :



OAM adress is : 070000E8
I changed : 801040B0 into 800040B0 (blod text is X coordinate of the sprite).
Yeah back button is left-aligned !

But now I'm searching those values in the ROM itself. But I have no clue how to find them.

I tried hexsearch of surrounding values too.

Help is welcome !

For the script we use our own tool that dump it from overlayxxx.bin files

About our tools, I'm not allowed to share the ones made by our main hacker, but here is my contribution to the project.

It can extract all of the files contained in the main romfile.bin, making editing easier.

Nice! I have been bitter about how this game (and the sequel, for obvious reasons) was never localized in French, they had good translations back then (except the first two, oh dear god. It was legendary bad, but at least the first one made up for it with an English version) .

Hope the English Gyakuten Kenji 2 patch will follow up soon!
