Nintendo Direct confirmed for tomorrow, will show off upcoming games

DmRzUzJU4AEsRKA.jpg

Nintendo will be showcasing its schedule of games tomorrow, in a Nintendo Direct. This stream will deviate from the Smash and Indie news we've seen lately, and will instead focus on both 3DS and Switch games, lasting around 35 minutes. The Direct will air on September 6th at 3 pm PT. Stay tuned, as GBAtemp will cover it live when it starts.

I really like how they announce directs only 1-2 days before they air nowadays.
Less time for speculation and stress is a good thing.

Tools can be mapped to traditional controls. Also, mario maker has a lot of room for improvement. Not only more items, but also stuff missing like slopes, better warp pipe behavior, longer levels, more backgrounds, enemies, more freedom for custom events and boss battles, improve the engine to match each game to what it used to be...
1) Creating on controller is not nice hence why it was disabled entirely on Wii U
2) Slopes are only present in SMW and even then they only exist on the cave tileset and cause problems (slopes can be used to get oob very easily in SMW). No other 2D game has had them so why would they be added?
3) How could warp pipes be improved without implementing a pretty in depth events system that would make creation more difficult for beginners?
4) The last thing Maker needs is longer levels. It's already possible to create levels WAAAAY longer than any of the original games had.
5) More backgrounds and enemies doesn't actually add anything to the game. It's the same game with more plopables.
6) Nintendo had per game physics working in Maker and after focus testing removed it because players don't like one game that needs to be learned 4 times over.
7) Custom Events will never happen. Nintendo aim Mario at kids and would never add anything that advanced to a Mario game. Don't get me wrong, I'd freaking love it if they did MM2 and made it more like Lunar Magic but they won't.

Most of the SMM streams I have seen are of playing levels, not making them. While creation streams do exist, afaik they are uncommon.

As for creating in docked mode, controller support wouldnt be that hard to do, I would think. (ninja'd)
Then you obviously don't watch much Maker streaming on Twitch. Panga, Barbarous King, GrandPooBear, CarlSagan42, JuzCook, Go Seigen, GlitchCat7, Cliffy, Auratuer, KronicSauce, TubbaLuvin, Funahuxna... These were all very popular Mario Maker steeamers who WERE popular because they created on stream as often as they played. Granted these days most of them don't create anymore and a few of them don't stream anymore either. These are only the Kaizo streamers too, there's another 10 or so regular level creators I could name.

The issue is all the good creators from Maker have moved onto romhacking (mostly Lunar Magic), that's amazing for the romhacking scene but none of the players who left Maker for Lunar Magic are going to return to it. Most of the guys I mentioned above have said they'd buy Maker 2 but wouldn't change their schedules to accommodate it more than they already do for Maker 1.

There's nothing to be gained from flogging a dead horse, it's funny because a lot of you that think it would be cool to have Maker 2 probably wouldn't care for more than a few weeks after it came out.

Also don't think I'm hating Maker or anything, I assure you nothing could be further from the truth. My Wii U only ever gets turned on for Maker these days and only today I watched a 5 hour Maker stream on Twitch.

I just feel like there's nothing to be gained from a Mario Maker 2

Please announce DQXI for US/EU so the 3ds can avoid becoming and vengeful, evil spirit after it dies soon.

Hope there is more info like, Snes games, not just NES.

Why is everyone so annoyed that the 3ds still gets games its not taking away games from the switch.

Because it's seven years old, and that people fear they will do the same "focus only on 3DS and not on the other system BS" like the did with Wii U.

More like what Sony did with the psp/ps2 than the ps3/psp and the ps4/vita
