5) Run the 4.0 Updater

http://www.teknoconsolas.tv/wanin/Firmware-Updater_4.0.zip

6) Run the IOS60 updater
say NO to install IOS61
say YES to install IOS60
say YES to patch IOS60
say NO to install the shop channel

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PN6WIJRI

7) It is highly recommended that you install preloader to prevent bricks. On the install screen press 1

A friend of mine has a NTSC-U Wii with 3.2U in it, I installed the HBC and Backup Launcher in it and everything was running fine. Until I tried to load the MH3 demo in it.. the DVD is fine cause I can run it perfectly on my own 4.0U Wii that's mod-chipped. But on his, the game resets the Wii back to the menu screen. So I figured out that it should be because of the firmware, I tried to install Waninkoko's 4.0 firmware, but I'm getting an error when the shop channel is being downloaded. So.. what could be the problem here, is it really the firmware? Would I have any problems if I just updated it to 4.0 through Nintendo?

thanks.

His wii is probly missing some IOS file that is needed by MH3

So.. updating my firwmware to 4.0 would install the missing IOS, right?

If all you need is shop channel functionality, check out WiiSCU:http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiSCU.

Just use it to install IOS61, and the updated Shop Channel. This is simplist thing to do.

I'm seeing that to use the SoftMii 3.0 or whatever is currently available, I can't be on official firmware 4.0. I'm planning on purchasing a Wii this coming Friday and was wondering if there is any sure-fire way to know what firmware a brand new Wii will come with? If I were to get anything less than 3.4, is there a way to upgrade to ONLY 3.4 and not the latest which i'm sure will be the only thing available through Nintendo's update?

YOu can hope. It matters when the wii was shipped. Yes you can run the downgrader to upgrade to 3.4, if that makes any sense

Heya, was wondering.. when on 4.0, can you have your homebrew stuff on the sd card at the same time as vc/wiiware games or are there some problems?

There are no problems with having both of them on there. You can have pretty much anything you like on your SD card and it will still work.

Hey,

I have a pretty 'noob' question I think about the Game channels using IOS222:

I have a PAL Wii.
Running NTSC/JAP (And PAL of course) Games trough USB Loader do work fine.
Now I want to run them trough Game Channels.

All NTSC and JAP Games loading via Game channel seem to give a Green Screen.
Tried on video patch:
PAL 60, NTSC and Default.

PAL Games trough Game channels works fine.

What I possibly could do wrong?
Thanks.

-----

What does this mean in WiiSCU:
Does Trucha + means Trucha bug
And Trucha - means Trucha Bug fix?

Thanks!

Morning.

I'm having great difficulty in understanding a few things (TBH with all the information available I think it's just a simple case of me confusing myself
blush.gif
)

I have installed the HBC via the TP hack.

Then when I booted up my mac to access the net my WiiConnect24 kicked in and updated my FW to 4.0E
frown.gif
(please refrain from stating the obvious that I am a tool for not switching this off)

Anyway - can I downgrade to 3.2 with ease - or due to already having the HBC installed do I not need to bother?

I have myself a nice shiny external already to go and a stack of iso's ready to drop onto it. Can I just carry on and install the USB Loader to my SD and go from there or am I missing something?

Or if someone could point me in the direction of "an idiots guide" I would be very thankful.

A very confused and slightly embarrassed noob.

I hope normal ones cos I havent got tiny ones!
You can use both Mini DVD (1.4gb)
And 'Normal' DVD (4.7gb) (Multi Game Disc - Wii Only if you use that many since the Gamecube lens can not access that far.)
Or Dual Layer (8.5 gb) (Multi Game Disc - Wii Only if you use that many since the Gamecube lens can not access that far.

If you already installed a cios(cIOS36_rev7 or higher) before upgrading to 4.0 you should be fine with installing the loader. The loader will need cios36_rev10 to work properly.

If you don't have a cios already installed then use this.I can't confirm this works myself but others say it has.

GOOD LUCK.

Requisites:
- this archive:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DMXW9VCC
- WiFi connection (LAN Adapter doesn't work with cIOS rev9-10).
- Homebrew Channel pre-installed.
No cIOS required!

1) Unpack the archive linked above.
2) Do a full backup of your SD card on the PC, and DELETE everything from the card.
3) Copy the apps folder on the SD card.
4) On the Wii, launch the Homebrew Channel and select CMDVDX34, then pick "Downgrade IOS35", wait for it to end and come back to the menu, then exit.
- If it says "Failed to add title, maybe you already ran this?", find IOS35-64-v1040.wad from a disk such as Brawl-Mario Kart-WiiFit, using downgradehelper.bat or "elsewhere" and install it using WMIOS35 or a regular Wad Manager, then exit and continue to follow this guide.
- If it says that "you're a pirate" delete also all your VC/WiiWare pirated channels (with AnyTitle Deleter or WAD Manager), execute shared2clean and try again grog.gif
5) Execute downgradehelper.bat in the "PC" folder of the archive and insert 1, it will download IOS36 from NUS and patch it to cIOSv9, then pack the WAD. (alternatively, you can find and use the cios_fix.wad).
6) Copy the cios wad in the wad folder in the SD card.
7) Delete the apps folder on the SD, rename the "apps2" folder included in the archive to "apps" and copy it to the SD.
8) Launch the Homebrew Channel again, and run WMIOS35.
9) Install ciosv9.wad.
10) Exit again, and run IOSDowngraderv1 from HBC.
11) If you want a System Menu lower than 4.0, use cIOS Downgrader
