Update 2: I installed IOS36 (revisions 8 and 9), IOS37, IOS38, IOS53, and IOS55 hoping that one of them, coupled with the OO2 fix would work. None of them seemed to have an effect; I just keep getting the purple screen when I force NTSC.

I have an NTSC console, and the game is PAL. Is there something I'm still doing wrong?

Hi,
I got 2 questions:

- I'm on 3.2E (at least my wii says that), but I can go into the Wii shop. Does that mean I did update to 4.0, or is that another update?
No your still on 3.2, you only have the right IOS and other files to make the shop work
- Depends on the answer of the first one : If I am going to update to 4.0, should I delete Starfall from my Wii (and maybe other programs), or can I just let it there?
Starfall doesn't work on 4.0 (get preloader0.29 instead) but other apps should work if you use waninkokos sys menu 4.0 updater

I know the first one is a little stupid, because I should be the one to know if I did the update, but because in the beginning the Wii shop didn't work I did some installs to get it working.
Ok, but should I first uninstall starfall, or can i just begin installing to 4.0?
And what is better anyway, should I stay at 3.2 or should I update to 4.0?
Since preloader 0.29 came out, going to 4.0 is not that dangerous anymore. If you wish to go to 4.0 you have to use the ultimate 4.0 guide that can be found here somewhere. If you do it right, you still have all the homebrew and sym 4.0
If you want to go to 4.0 you have to uninstall starfall first (disable the hacks). And do some research (like the ultmate system menu 4.0
guide)

thanks! I will look for it.

Any disadvantages for a game being "scrubbed"??

Hey guys - I'm wondering:

I read the best method to do a game disc backup is to do a 1:1 copy.
Although you always have a bad compressibility due to the jitter in unused areas of the disc this is supposed to be more compatible?
With what?

And then there's the "scrubbed" images.
They are stripped of the unused space (overwritten with zeros), so the compressed ISO only takes up as much space as is needed for the game itself.

If you burn a scrubbed image to DVD and play it: is there any disadvantage, e.g. being detectable by N or booting problems with some chips or such things?

I'm asking because the USB-Loaders kinda "auto-scrub" the games when storing them to HDD.
If you "extract" the image (e.g. with WBFS Manager 2.5) you get your "full" 4,38 GB image, but scrubbed.

I'm on fw 3.1E at the moment, anyone know what the best way to get to 3.2 is ? Or what game has 3.2 on it for me to use ?

If you have WiFi, just use cIOS Upgrader and select which firmware you want to upgrade to.

Cios Downgrader!!!!

You can update with it too
tongue.gif

I cant find this app anywhere, I have searched through the homebrew browser and cant see anything. Do you know where I would find it exactly ?

Also, I'm having problems connecting, I checked internet on the wii and tested the connection and it was fine, yet the homebrew browser always fails to connect, it was fine last night.

hey all,

I haven't hooked up my wii for nearly a year, so i haven't updated it as well. During that year i've heard some things about backups not longer being playable on wii firmare 3.3 or higher, unless taking some precautions (heard something about GeckoOS or something?).

So is there anything i need to do before updating my wii?
Can i also update the wii first and do i have to do something afterwards?
Can i just update my wii (to 4.0 i think?) without any problems, no extra things need to be done?

my wii firmware at the moment is 3.0E i think (whatever version got released at the time of Smash Brawl (NTS-J) version, haven't updated ever since
It's a PAL wii, Wiikey chip (an old one, got it like a month after the wii was released) Wiikey version 1.9 i think (can i check this anywhere?)

i read something in the first post about the DJTAZ gamma-loader, should i use this? (and can i update my wii (through nintendo) beforehand, and can i also update AFTER that backup loader has been installed?

Hi guys!

Really quick question. Does Guitar Hero US work on a modded Japanese Wii 3.0J firmware? Original game, Ill be buying the set with drums, guitar, mic, and the game itself. Ive been away from Wii stuff, its been a year and a half since I last touched it so I have no update on modded Wiis since then. Anyone care to answer my question? Follow ups would be.. If not, then how? Is it still possible? I think it was a d2ckey chip that was soldered on my Wii..

Thanks a lot!

My MGS:TTS multigame iso doesnt work. I can't get passed the Konami logo at the very beginning for both disc 1 and 2. Is this a common problem? How do I fix it? I'm using GCN Backup launcher 2.0.

That also happened to me, try loading both discs (press Z on disc two and B on disc one, make sure you press B and not A). That worked for me.

Thanks for the reply but for some reason, my GCN launcher doesn't boot MGS by pressing B. It only allows me to boot MGS with all the buttons but that one. All of my other games work can be booted with the B button (though they are not multigame isos...). So is there a reason why I can't press the B button?

I have a 3.2U system with the latest HBC w/ cIOS36 v 10, usb loader. I want to upgrade to 4.0 however I'm not too interested in installing preloader. After reading the ULTIMATE system menu 4.0 guide, it sounds as if it is strongly recommended to have preloader installed if upgrading to 4.0. Also, it sounds as if people have had their Wiis bricked using Waninoko's updater. Is there a specific risk is the reason for people recommending installing preloader (e.g. the 4.0 updater occasionally bricking) or is it just a general adivce (wii could randomly brick). If I update to 4.0 with the Waninoko's updater (via the ULTIMATE system menu 4.0 guide) and only install region (U) channels, should I not be worried about future bricking? At this time, I'm not interested in applying custom hacks that preloader enables (uch as the healt hscreen hack). The only additional thing I want to add to my current setup is the ability to load from SD card. Which seems like 4.0 is the only way.

If people really recommended installing preloader due, is there any assumption/speculation that the upcoming 4.0 hack will potentially avoid bricking concerns that are with the current 4.0 updating method?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there. I've been trying to get House of the Dead: Overkill working on my wii, but have been having constant problems.

Iirc, my wii version was 3.4, but I downgraded it to 3.2U and have been using the 0.3 gamma loader with (mostly) success for a few months now. my cIOS is set to 249, the game is NTSC and came patched for IOS249, although I understand that patching is redundant now and should work either way with the gamma launcher.

Ive tried several copies with Verbatim 8x 4.7g DVD-Rs, at varying write speeds from 2-8 and a couple copies using cheap Dynex 4x DVD+Rs using ImgBurn Booksetting (They have worked for several other games though. Pretty nice since I have hundreds of them
laugh.gif
). None of my discs have worked using normal loading, force NTSC, rebooting with hooks, or any combination.

While using reboot with hooks, the splash screen in the disc channel displays normally but after launching the game i get a black screen with the error message "Error 001 unauthorized device has been detected."

From the place where I acquired it, there are mixed reports of people not being able to play it with 0.3 gamma + IOS249 and receiving an error, so I thought I would ask. If I'm missing any information, ask and I'll take another look.

Since my question sort of got lost, I'll repost it. How did you guys get SSBB dumped? I've tried the USB Loader and Waninkoko's DVD Dumper 1.3 (WiFi and USB). The USB Loader freezes in the middle of dumping, Waninkoko's DVD Dumper doesn't mount the USB and also doesn't send the html file. How did you guys dump a DVD9 copy of SSBB?

It dumped fine for me using the DVD Dumper (cIOS) 1.2 by Waninkoko. Haven't tried burning it, tho. But it did rip, both wireless and usb lan adapter.

Guys I have a virgin Pal 3.3E atm.

I read through a few threads now it looks like I need to follow this tutorial http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=118446 by emperorofcanada in
order to play backed up games without a chip. Looks like a great guide.

I've done twiglight hack before on a 3.2E console, but not on the 3.3E.

I know I'm sorter answering my own questions here, just want to know I'm taking the right path?

Also what's the best VC injector atm for us pal guys running 60HZ VC games? DevilKen was one guy involved in this.

Thanks

Josh

Dumb question, but I guess games load faster with USB loader with a USB HDD then a USB pen right?

Generally, I doubt you'd notice a difference. But the pen could load faster, but then again it might not. Depends on what devices you're comparing.

But given that you can load a hell of a lot more games onto a HDD, you know where the real (and more important) advantage lies...

Run Twilight hack
Run wad manager and install IOS16
Run Custom wad manager and install cios rev 10
Run IOS Downgrader
Run Cios Downgrader to 3.2E
Install cios rev 10 using the official installer
Run waninkoko's updater to 4.0
Run IOS Downgrader
Install Preloader
Install cios rev 10
Run IOS60 installer
and in this order do
NO
YES
YES
NO
Then just run/install anything you want. If you want to install cioscorp, make sure you include IOS60.wad in there too.

Anyone mind taking a look at my Madworld predicament?

I had the same problem.Except mine was for Sonic & The Black Knight.
I installed all the extra IOS's ext and nothing worked.I finally found something that did though.

Try this one.

http://rapidshare.com/files/177686716/BLC_..._EN_002_FIX.rar

install the V3 not the V2

It will install as a new channel but it worked for me.Madworld also works fine for me but im on ntsc and only play ntsc games.

Lemme know if it fixes your problem
