Yeah, the one above had a sanity check that would fail if the NOR was garbage.

Try this.

It worked! My card is not a brick anymore!!

So just to clarify, I used the flasher you suggested here:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/r4i-b9s-flashcart-tested-and-impression.484620/page-23#post-7633409

And then I flashed the NDS backup from @pandavova here:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/r4i-b9s-flashcart-tested-and-impression.484620/page-22#post-7633078

Now shows the Bomberman Touch icon and boots the firmware. Now to test if the official flasher will revert it to the B9S mode

That's great!

..The irony is I just tested it on my own cart that I deliberately trashed the NOR of and it didn't work and I was just going to say it doesn't work.

Thanks for testing.

The r4i-SDHC flasher now also picks up the card and seems to be restoring it to the NTRboot mode. I'll test that and then see if it will convert back. Maybe then it might be a good idea to make a post about it so other people can fix theirs?

What firmware do the b9s cards use and what format does the microsd have to be? Mine comes up as an error on dsi v4.5u

Does it work on your 3DS? First we'd have to know if their hardware is the same between their cart revisions, which one the R4i-B9S corresponds to, and if possible, upgrade the firmware to run on DSi 1.4.5.

EDIT: Try following the upgrade instruction from this page: http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp

If the bomberman logo comes up it means the card itself is working. You then just need to download the corresponding firmware for the r4i-B9S card. As it has the green "3DS" logo on it, the firmware you need regardless of the system is the 1.84v firmware as this is the most up-to-date for DS and 3DS

EDIT: I can also confirm that I have been able to convert my card from DS mode to B9S mode, installed B9S to a 3DS and then converted it back to DS mode using the official flasher. My card was previously bricked

Luma3DS lets you boot any flashcart, afaik.

Oh okay it comes up on the menu, I just need to copy the firmware over
