Doubtful, sadly. Released on a doomed console, to mediocre fanfare, no one ever seems to remember this game. The ring physics garnered a lot of dislike as well, I remember the game being a little buggy with that. It visually blows Sonic CD out of the water, though. SEGA probably will never re release this game, in fact...I think it's the ONLY Sonic game (Wait...maybe the Saturn version of Sonic 3D?) that hasn't gotten at least some form of a port. It's a shame, but it's not too much of a loss, honestly. SEGA should have focused on the initial Sonic Crackers idea, instead of making a Knuckles spinoff imo.
Knuckles Chaotix was on Gametap for a short while (might've just been a packaged emulator? Can't find much info on it), and the PC version of 3D Blast is a slightly worse port of the Saturn version.
I think Chaotix is solid game, but definitely got some flaws that hold it back, don't know that I'd call it worth remaking in the Retro Engine. At least, not until the 1 and 2 remakes get PC and/or console ports, and whatever legal mess is keeping 3&K from getting similar treatment.
Okay i get the game has some flaws and probably sega satrun sonic 3d blast deserves more exposure than this game, But i mean it was a good try. It may not been straight up sonic game like sonic cd was but you have to admit that the visuals were colorful, impressive and music was very good. Of course Sonic CD and Saturn 3d blast cheats by using straight up cd For more features but didn't even try to use it to the fullest.
Sonic cd had just about as much appeal as a sonic game did on genesis. Look like a sonic game, played exactly like one. It had short vidoe animations, and a cd player quality soundtrack (obviously being on CD) With the only memorable thing was that one part in the first stage where you run up a long wall and the camera spins the stage around. Besides that are the bonus stages. Having some already previously themed stages featured in sonic 1 with more expanded ideas, along with the time travel thing, and the name "SONIC CD" Real clever.... Sega started that trend before nintendo started it with Super mario 64. I still like it though, fun game and entertaning for the most part.
Sonic 3D blast on saturn is like a remake of the genesis game. To be honest i didn't really like the flicky based concept of collecting birds and stuff. The only challenge the game had was trying to adapt to the physics of momentum and jumping in 3D with a bad camera view. Maybe not as worst as bubsy 3d or earth worm jim 3d but Still was just hard. Each version had different bonus stage, the genesis was kinda boring but least wasn't too hard. The Saturn reminded me of sonic 2 bonus stages and i hated playing those cause getting all the chaos emeralds were hard, not to mention they recycle that specific idea in more games, Sonic heroes, Sonic rush, Sonic colors (ON DS) and Sonic 4 episode 2. With also getting lost easily with having to find 5 flickys and get them to the goal being the whole idea behind it, doesn't feel much like a sonic game. But worth revisiting on both accounts, I do think it could be worth a port like in some Collection, or a $5 download title for HD consoles or 3ds. It is called sonic 3D blast after all, so maybe in 3D it should be.
A retro engine port should be considered.
Now Knuckles Chaotix isn't flawless either and never said it was. It does have bad parts. Some not inspiered level designed but one of the fast pace sonic games, and 2 players probably work better than before when tails just leaves the screen cause sonic too fast and can't keep up. The ring bonding idea, may been bad received since it restricted most of the movement, but is a game requiring team work. While most other sonic games didn't bother with the team work idea despite having a co-op mode it was better to just play the competition modes. But it had more stages than your average sonic game. A stage that look like Bontinical garden based on a green house? A clock tower? A BOAT or Yatch or some water vehichle? Some kinda radio tower? Come on, we never ever saw stages like those in a sonic game again after that. Sure we seen so many carnival and casino themes, but boats, gardens, clock tower and radio stations? Or you be happy with another fustrating pinball level called "Casinopolis" again. (also i know about marbel garden from sonic 1 and 3, but green houses and gardens are not the same thing)
So i mean they all have uniqueness and flaws, but it should least be acknowledge for the good parts as well. Everyone puts sonic cd at such a high standard that it just seem more like a improved Sonic 1 game, and probably should have some multiplayer mode, but since only sonic was in the game. (Even though it was released after sonic 2 on genesis with tails in it) And again sonic 3d blast (single player even having previous games being multiplayer) Is all good. The most memorable thing about knuckles chaotix was the impressive visuals the game showed off, the bonus stage falling into a void of random stuff, the special stage with 3d rotating rendered stuff, EVEN WIRE FRAME ONES as well as smooth looking animation different themed stages and music and the idea was something to even bother looking at.
