Or along those lines, the answer is NO. Just stay on whatever fw you're on and save what money you can. Wait for the IOSU exploit.

For some of us the stars align perfectly, updated to 5.3.2 and stayed on it(because we listened), already have smash, spare >32gb sd card lying around. For the rest of you, just know that the IOSU exploit, when it gets ported to your fw, will literally require none of those things to do what loadiine does. Just be patient for a bit.

Yeah I'm still gonna go trade some old DS/3DS games for Smash U tomorrow (oh wait today).
Reasonable advice overall tho, but you're never gonna stop everyone from rushing out and buying stuff. Getting Smash will give me access to a few other games I want, which makes a big difference when all I have now is Mario Kart.

Incidentally I got lucky because my new copy of Mario Kart came with 5.3.2E

But when will this IOSU exploit come out? Also I believe there will eventually be a cutoff point for firmwares vulnerable to exploits, as hackers will ultimately focus their attention on firmwares with the most compatibility and least amount of hassle.

Meanwhile loadiine will certainly get more updates and better compatibility in the coming months, and 5.3.2 could very well get functioning DLC and eshop titles before any other firmware for all we know.

I don't know, I'm not too optimistic. also I'm one of the many who didn't pay enough attention and got auto-updated to 5.5.0 before catching on. just kill me already

answer from me is
YES just update and stop asking how soon stuff will be released and if someone will port loadiine to 5.1.0 etc, get a game with 5.3.2 on, update and resell/return and get smash bros and be happy

and if/when a iosu exploit is found and released you can resell smash bros if you like, but i have seen how people get on here and i know better than to suggest people wait patiently
