Well I know this isn't helping but I'm still having the slowdown in loading screens, running the original games off disk seem to work fine though so it can't be my Gamecube mode is broken, something in DML is because it used to work normal before, I'm still in need of help for the slow loading times!

Have you used Panasonic SDFormatter to format your SD card?

Panasonic SDFformatter? no I just formatted it on Windows, does it matter?

After using Panasonic SDFformatter the loading time will be shorter.

That depends on the size of the sd card which cluster size the formatter will use, mostly 32kb that wont be the fastest ;) To get maximum you should format to 64kb cluster size.

Just continued my small gamecube iso compressor, its now in v0.2.
Changes:

-added option to force 32KB align files (needed for broken audio streaming games)
-added option to create a full 1.35GB ISO file (files can be auto re-aligned or 32KB aligned inside the ISO)
-added a pause before closing the program so you can read what the program did
-set down file buffer from 1MB to 128KB
-using more C++ code

Download
Windows binary:

One tester said its faster than v0.1, would be cool to get some feedback again ;)

Its also Drag & Drop, just drop the GC image on the GC iso compressor in your file explorer

Alright I'll try it out and let report what happens!

Edit: What do you know, it worked, OMG it worked, man I have asked this same question in many forums and didn't get any answer, who would've thought the issue was with the SD the whole time and not the Wii, thank you so much sir, you're a life saver :)

Anyway I wanna ask how to format it with FAT32 and 64KB clusters, I can't find an option to "choose" how I wanna format it with SDFormatter but it only formats it with FAT32 32KB clusters, which I'm fine with, thanks!

Edit2: nevermind, I read in some forums that Panasonic SDFormatter formats SDHC by default with FAT32 32KB clusters, I also read that using this tool to format the Micro-SD for DS flash cards increase performance... hmm... didn't know that!

I have one Kingston microSD HC class10, and I can't format it wit the option /A:64K. Why???
The microsd hc after the formatting is unreadable (I get an error after formatting wit the option 64K).
Why I cannot format it with this option (perhaps the micro sd don't is compatibile whit 64k)?.

Do yourself a favor, and also try formatting it with Windows using the format command, to 64kB cluster size. It makes a huge difference for me and others.

On a command window, type format /? to see how to run the command.

What size is your SD card? You can only format to FAT32 / 64K clusters if your card is 8GB or larger (if I recall correctly). If smaller, you can still format to 64K, but you need format to FAT16.

Yes. In the tests that I did, the only difference was cluster size. Formatting tool or FAT version did not matter. Again, this is based on my personal experiences, testing with real games, not the DML_ST thingy.

So, what about audio streaming games does this actually fix?
Do they not work without this option or does it actually make audio work right?

Edit: Another little idea: could this use the same command line options as DiscEx so it could be dropped into your "DML WAD Creator" from your guide to make it faster, too?

I have a couple of questions:

1- Is it possible to use cheat codes? I'm using USB Loader to run the games, I made a code list for a game and after I check the codes I want and start the game they don't seem to work!

2- This is a more important question to me, I decided to try every single game I have with DML to see which work fine and which don't, and while most of them seem to work just fine, some didn't work so I made a list of the ones that didn't:

-Sonic Gems Collection (Sonic CD, Sonic R, Sonic The Fighters, black screen)

-Shadow The Hedgehog (Error message too soon, can't beat any level)

-Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (Error message during the loading screen right after the intro)

-Taz: Wanted (loading screen befor Level one freezes at the end with noise)

-Rayman Arena (Black Screen after Ubisoft logo)

-Virtua Stricker (Freeze after loading data from memory card)

Did anyone get any of these games to work? if so what am I doing wrong? I'm using rev52 no disk btw and all games shrunk!

Also two games seem to work with issues, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex (No music or voice acting, sfx work), Looney Tunes: Back In Action (No music, sfx and voice acting work) but at least they're playable and I know this is hardware limitation and probably will never be fixed, I could live with that!

Edit: forgot to mention, I also tested the games that didn't work with NeoGamma using a disk "Wii Sports" and they still did the same!

So, what about audio streaming games does this actually fix?
Do they not work without this option or does it actually make audio work right?
It simply allows the games to be played. Nobody has a solution to play the audio streams.

Would this fix the issue with Shadow The Hedgehog? cause I kinda noticed the problem that causes the game to give the error message might be related to the music, changing it in the options seems to make the game freeze less but is still unplayable!

Not all games work with the no-disc patch.

For correct testing you should try untouched ISOs with a DML version that doesn't use the no-disc patch.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
