Would it be possible to use the firmware spoofer to do a system update from a 5.5.0 system to a 5.3.2 system without having to update the 5.3.2 system?

If so, I might buy a used Wii U for the purpose of buying stuff on it and then transferring to my Wii U.

I've asked this about 4 times and no one has answered yet. It might be too early to say but the experienced people should have an idea.

Help me understand this badly worded question.

If you do a System Update on a 5.5.0 system, it's going to update the 5.5.0 system. What do you mean by System update from 5.5.0 to a 5.3.2 System? Downgrade? If you update, you can't not update at the same time, that's what spoofers are for. To appear updated on an older version of something, or to alter something and mask it as something else.

Are you asking if you have a console on 5.5.0, if you can use the eShop with your NNID, and install the certificates or whatever on 5.3.2, so that you can install them without having to use eShop (however that works)?

I've posted this a few times in the other thread and no one has responded yet:

"Will a spoof allow us to WiiU system transfer from a higher-firmware console (the latest, lets say 5.5) to a lower one like 5.3.2 running the spoof? (Nintendo requires both consoles be on the latest firmware)"

I imagine the requirement to be on the latest firmware is not a real limitation in terms of software issues or conflicts, and want to know if this will work.

New Features:

Wii U to Wii U System Transfer

    • Users can now transfer (move) all software and data from one Wii U to another
    • A “System Transfer” option has been added within System Settings
------------------------------------
3
------------------------------------

All downloaded content, including add-on content, preinstalled data, update data, etc. The downloaded content will automatically download to the target system once the transfer has been completed
.

------------------------------------
4

Software and funds from the Nintendo eShop

------------------------------------

also the updates will be transferred.
I think the spoofer needs to check if this data come from the same server or not...

edit:
added point 4 ...also eshop app will be transfered ... maybe a good thing but maybe also a possible transfer fail...

I think I see what you mean. If you have a 5.3.2 and a 5.5.0 console you can purchase things on the 5.5.0 console and then spoof the 5.3.2 console a 5.5.0 to transfer/auto download the purchases etc to. Would be a nice work around for now if it does work although you may as well just play the purchases on the 5.5.0 console if you have one and keep the 5.3.2 for homebrew.

also he can do that move only each 7 days:
"Select “OK” to confirm you understand that transfer was complete, and that you cannot perform another transfer for 7 days."
this means eventually :
buy stuff on eshop
make move on 5.3 from 5.5 (hoping spoof works)
if he wants a new game from eshop he must return on 5.5
so
wait 7 days
move to 5.5
buy new stuff
wait 7 days
move back to 5.3

Hi all

So I just bought a Wii U from some random guy, who never used it. It's currently on 1.0.3 E and has never been connected to the internet before. I just bought Super Mario Maker and I'm dying to try it out. However after browsing around here, I get the impression that I will not be able to play SMM without updating to a firmware that has very little chance of getting hacked for a long time. Is this correct?

Also, seeing as I'm on such an old firmware version, are there any benefits to staying on this early version, or should I just go ahead and upgrade to the firmware that's on the SMM disk?

I know this probably comes up a lot, bear with me :)

EDIT: Feels good to be back on gbatemp, I've been away for soooo long, site looks nice!

Alright, thanks for the reply guys! I went ahead and updated to 5.5.0 in order to get online in Super Mario Maker, just couldn't resist the temptation (no regrets, the game is AMAZING, blow away by peoples creativity).

Didn't have the patience to wait for the spoofer, sounds like it's still gonna be a few weeks before it hits the public yeah?

By 'updates' it likely means only game updates. As consoles are supposed to technically be on the same and most recent firmware to even transfer in the first place, it might not be the case that the consoles would also transfer the firmware. It would be useful for 5.5 consoles to have their contents transferred to a 5.3.2 console running the spoof (spoofing 5.5), that way people who updated would be able to transfer all their data to a new, lower-firmware console without losing anything.

People update now, only for it to have it bite them in the butt later :creep:
Haha, yeah I'll probably regret it soon enough. My backup plan is to sell the 5.5.0 Wii U and buy another used one with older firmware, a lot of people are selling their Wii U's here in Denmark at the moment.

In this case you can try ... Obviously at your own risk ... If you sure by "updates" they mean only games updates you are right ...I have 2 Wiiu too but I prefer let them separate accounts
