Rx tools allows you to boot into system nand without the need to change sd cards.

Wait, so you have to format your entire sd card?

Yes you have, but you can easily make a backup of everything on there and move everything back once it's done formatting.

Yes and so does Cakes, you just have to go into the menu, as I said this isn't complete and for simplicity's sake I'm having the user choose one to start with and if they want to add anything later they're free to

oh you mean that horribly buggy, hardly booting custom firmware that was released a loooong time ago that hardly anyone uses because it's a pita to use, well for simplicity I'm leaving that one out of the guide because it's not reliable

Updated the OP, old 3ds users should be able to fully install a custom firmware with FBI installed

Friend, in the Step 8 for O3DS, I can't urge you enough to recommend 6.X for 2DS users, to avoid any bricking mishaps! Very nice guide though, and extremely detailed in the instructions :yay:

Gonna use this as an example to edit my guide hehehehe :P

It's a guide. The guide should have a note at the bottom saying that Palantine is obsolete and there's no reason to use it, but it should still mention that it exists so people who read the guide will know what it is.

Also, you need links to a ROP installer (preferably one which can install many different launchers) and to something you can run on an Android device to use with browser hacks instead of having an Internet connection.

    Also, information about running DSiware.

And a section "what to do if you have firmware less than 4.x or have no browser or a pre-4.x browser. (Answer: If you have firmware less than 4.x, update with a cart to 4.x. I am not up to date enough on my firmware to answer the second question myself--can someone on 6.x use 6.x mset without a browser?)

Now of only the GBA stuff did not need SYSNAND, then I would use it. :-/

    How about (S)NES/GB(C) and others?

As stated this is a WIP, this stuff will be added in due time, also do you have a page where I can brush up on my DSiware stuff to make this guide complete

On the 6.x stuff without a browser they'll need a DS mode flash cart to install MSET

SNES doesn't have a virtual console port... Theres blargSNES though
the NES/GB(C) stuff works without sysNAND as it doesn't boot into a different firmware mode it just boots like any 3ds game or app, you can press home and it won't close the software on you, it'll simply suspend it... also there really isn't much reason not to use the GBA one, you only have to install the firmware and games on sysNAND and then they are playable on emuNAND

For certain CFWs yes... Currently supported ROP chains are rxTools 4.x, gateway encrypted 4.x, gateway encrypted 6.x, mset for boss 4.x and mset for boss 6.x... There might be one I missed but you get the idea

Browsers are not included in cart updates, so if you're on a pre-browser FW, you're kind of SOL from what I've read.
