Why should you get custom CFWs (Mocha) and sysNAND/redNAND?

I recently softmodded my wii u to have The Homebrew Laucher and Haxchi (both work fine) but i want to know why you should get sysNAND or redNand or Mocha CFW and what are the pros and cons of each?

Rednand has literally 0 pros until Nintendo releases an update, and that's if rednand even can be updated. My suggestion If you have haxchi (and your sure it's on system memory and not usb and that it works) then install chbc. It has built in cfw that boots straight to sigpatched sysnand. There are no more benefits to anything else and this is the best setup despite what other may come and say.

Your already 90% of the way setup, just run chbc from homebrew channel then make sure not to delete the haxchi title or move to usb after installation and you'll be golden.

CFW will let you install unsigned games like eshop and dlc. It also lets things like fat32 usb/faster loading for things like retroarch and other supported homebrew
Mocha CFW runs both sysNAND and redNAND.

Which CFW allows for fat32 USB? as far as I knew the cfw's available still require for HDD to be formatted by wiiu which converts them to wiiufs (whatever it is they use)

None of them, USBs and USB HDDs require you to format them to Nintendos proprietary format.

Thanks for the clarification, that's what I thought until xtheman166 said otherwise.

We don't really have fat32 usb right now, your statement is very misleading.

Mocha and CBHC's cfw allows it but you can't install games to it. Only supported homebrew can use it. (Retroarch, wudump, and soon the homebrew launcher).
Actually certain homebrew can read from fat32 usb

I wasn't extremely clear but I meant usb and faster loading in retroarch and other supported homebrew

sysNAND is your systems's NAND, you can't just "get" it, you can patch it though.

And your opinion does not a fact make. You can tell people CBHC is the best, nothing else has any benefit or is even required all you want, doesn't make it the truth.

The actual truth is this OP

If you want non coldboot sig patched sysNAND go with Mocha & Haxchi
If you want coldboot sig patched sysNAND go with CBHC
If you want non coldboot sig patched redNAND go with Mocha & Haxchi
If you want coldboot sig patched redNAND go with Mocha & CBHC

Remember that CBHC has a risk of bricking your console.

You should decide what fits your needs best and go with that, there is no one size suits all solution.

Does redNAND not protect against bricks from a bad install if it's unlinked from sysNAND?

If not, it really is useless, as updating it and not sysnand actually bricks your system AFAIK.

Is there a risk of a brick with a sigpatched sysNAND?

The only real brick risk right now comes from CBHC and given its nature you would never need to install it onto redNAND.

redNAND is designed to protect sysNANd from becoming unusable however right now redNAND is a very early implementation and offers no real benefit over sig patched sysNAND because as I said, the only brick risk you'll need to install is installed onto sysNAND, not redNAND.

Mocha contains SEEPROM redirection which in theory allows redNAND to be updated while sysNAND is not but seeing as there's been no updates released this has not been tested.

There's really no point in Mocha (yet) if you don't use redNAND.
FIX94 has said as much in the CBHC thread: "For pretty much anyone the system menu setting (which uses the included CBHC CFW) is enough, on top of that using Mocha or fw.img for sysnand can lead to bootup problems and takes far longer to boot so please just dont do it, I dont know how often I can repeat that point anymore."

Yes but CBHC only allows for coldboot so it would he kinda hard to do non cooldboot using it. Before you post about how CBHC allows you to boot into the system menu it still applies a coldboot hack to your system whether you have it enabled or not. If you make 1 mistake your console is a paperweight.

Haxchi & Mocha set to sysNAND mode is the easiest way to achieve a non coldboot signature patched hack.

You missed the point. Regular Haxchi has sysNAND CFW and is all you need, Mocha has no benefits over it if you only use sysNAND.

No it does not, CBHC has sysNAND CFW, regular haxchi is nothing more than a forwarder which launches your homebrew of choice from the system menu (unless I've missed something?)

If you want a non coldboot signature patched sysNAND then you must go with Mocha or something like CFW Loader.

What Fix is saying is you shouldn't use CBHC to boot into Mocha if you only want sysNAND
