Yep. They promised years of free updates and stuff.
In addition to what Guild posted... last I checked they didn't.

It's just people like you see things like this...
http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/something-about-a-possible-pc-update.95324/
Okay, let me pose a hypothetical. Say I am considering doing an update for the PC version of Terraria... In the event that such a thing were to take place, what would be some things that you would be interested in seeing?
And choose to conveniently forget all the quantifier words, and think that because a dev mentions the possibility of something, it's a "promise" and it must be happening or something.

You know, instead of actually checking the source and seeing what devs SAID, you just go off of rumors and re-reports because it's something to fuel your bad feelings, which is easier than accepting reality?

Instead of calling the Terraria devs "lying bastards", please keep in mind their main dev retired because, oh I dunno, he has a life. He was having another child and honestly I don't think the team knew the game would explode like it did. That being said there is A LOT of content to Terraria and they have bigger aspirations. They're currently working on Starbound.
To be clear, just because things changed, doesn't mean they should have promised something in the start, and then just drop it because of changes.

And the only person working on Starbound that worked on Terraria is Tiy, who AFAIK only did graphics. So. :I

They did. It was in their FAQ section. They said they would support the game "For years to come."

I'm not talking about the new "Possible" PC updates, though if they went through with it, I suppose that'd be keeping to what they said.

I don't read things as "They said they MIGHT do this, so it's a promise!" I'm not an idiot.

Well, poo on you.

I take "We Will" as a promise. >:C
And they did, they just didn't claim for "years", for holding them to "years" isn't right. :P

Go check out all that was added during the game's development. And I'm not even talking the ass-huge expansion pack that was 1.1 (which added multiple new tiers of equipment and new biomes). Look at how little content deserts had when Terraria was released for a good example of just how much content they added in the life. No special enemies, no use for sand other than decoration into glass, not even any cactus. Deserts were, at the beginning, notably stark. Now it's got all the content it has now.

That right there proved me wrong. You're 100% right. They didn't use the term "Years". So I guess I was mis-remembering.

And yeah yeah yeah. I know what Terraria added through it's life. I've played it since it first came out. It was actually my first Steam game. You make very good points.

I'm just butt hurt.

This game is 10x better than minecrap IMO.
It doesn't need mods to make it "fun".
Now that it's portable I can play it in bed lol.
That is when I get a Vita...

Why just Vita? Im pretty sure it could run on modern smartphones and with a bit of trimming, the 3DS.

Easy to develop for. It's probably a pretty easy port from the PS3 version. Also Sony has been rather indie friendly recently and indie devs have actually really enjoyed success on the Vita. Shocking, I know. But like Retro City Rampage did best on the Vita for instance.

Yeah, I have noticed that recently they have started putting some big indie titles on consoles (Super Crate Box comes to mind) but its not like Ninty hasnt also taken these steps and the App/Play store has always been wide open to devs. I think it should at the very least be considered.

Nintendo may be dev friendly in the human sense, but they still had technical limits that pushed people away. Like how Super Meat Boy never got to Wiiware because they had a 50MB file limit, and the devs didn't want to cut levels out of the game to make it fit.

Terraria got boring to me after about a month. Was fun for the first month though. I felt a lot of updates trashed the fun of the game.
I'll still probably get it for my vita eventually. Buut right now I have way too many games to play/finish already...not really any room for Terraria. Even down the road.

One of the few games I pre-ordered on Steam :) I like it! I'd enjoy it a lot on a VITA for sure, I think it really fits the portable system. I wonder how they manage the UI and building stuff (touch screen would need a stylus for precision) :)
