The relatively popular sandbox indie game Terraria has made quite a name for itself. Essentially a combination of Minecraft and Spelunky, coupled with a ton of bosses and weapons, it's a rather excellent game if I do say so myself. It recently made the jump to consoles this week with the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 releases, and now it'll be jumping to portables with a Vita port.

The game will be much the same as the Playstation 3 version, supporting up to eight players online and keeping all the trimmings of the game.

Terraria does seem like a great fit for a portable platform, so this is probably a day one purchase for me (I also got the PS3 version day one).

This sounds like good news for me; we don't have anything like terraria on Vita yet. My only worry is that Vita has a 5-inch screen, I hope they remember to add in the camera adjustment.

Er... I kinda exhausted myself with it on PC. After 255+ hours playing it... I really just can't bring myself to play it any more. If I didn't over saturate myself with the game, this would have been good news, and further concreted the fact I want a Vita into my head. But it's just "okay" news for me.

Yep. They promised years of free updates and stuff.

Lying bastards didn't even update the game for a full year before they dropped the project.
Yep it has a lot of content but I kinda prefer how the game played before they nerfed everything. Also I find hardmode a pretty terrible addition to the game.

Instead of calling the Terraria devs "lying bastards", please keep in mind their main dev retired because, oh I dunno, he has a life. He was having another child and honestly I don't think the team knew the game would explode like it did. That being said there is A LOT of content to Terraria and they have bigger aspirations. They're currently working on Starbound.

The new content for consoles was NOT handled by Re-Logic, just 505 Games who ported it. They added the content at their own free will. Since they have no control over the PC version, the console content is exclusive. If you want to rub some more ointment on your ass to make yourself feel better, the console version is also $15, $5 more than the normal Terraria PC price (and Terraria is often very cheap with regular sales, Humble Bundles, etc).

Terraria is an excellent game regardless of how you cut it. It has a lot of content, it's got great ideas, and near infinite replay value. The console port is really well done (it's what I'm playing right now) and I think the game will transition excellently to a handheld. Such a great game to play on-the-go. Tons of pick up and play value, you can play it for minutes or hours, and you won't run out of content anytime soon.

So ;o;
