yeah i thought it was pretty crazy so ordered as soon as i saw it, saw quite a lot of cheap listings so wondering if its a clone
Since Team Xecuter isn't around anymore, then these are likely clones, just like their other Xbox 360 modding hardwares.

If somebody has a genuine Stargate 3DS, a comparison shot would be appreciated.

It wasn't expensive, so I bought one out of curiosity.
Has your experience with it been satisfactory?
I have 4 hacked 3ds, but plug and play seems to be a good experience as well.

Ace3ds X even more cheaper.

But I don't own it and don't know if it's better than SG

My bad, looks like it's just DS flashcard

That's actually sick, thanks for the heads up. I guess cfw can probably enable running out of region roms too, I doubt the card itself can check game region against system region and it's all just the menu doing the blocking. But with region free mod, out of region roms would probably work, and I can just install as cia the few games that dont work on it

The hybrid ds and 3ds mode on one card is very cool, not needing to swap between two cards is quite nice. I've wanted a sky3ds but they're expensive enough not to bother, this though, this is nice

jc why do this over modding it for seemingly free? just to do for novelty I would imagine/laziness?
That's why custom firmware exists. 3DS flashcarts are irrelevant and are just for the novelty sake of things. But I guess if you want extra storage then suppose you could buy one for the laughs.

its cool to have the saves on the cart if you have multiple systems it sucks switch doesn't work the same way

it's funny people always assume flashcart users don't also use cfw. flashcart is only extra functionality, you lose nothing

depends what sky3ds you get, older ones are really not the same because you need to mess with templates and use disk writer to add roms because it uses its own file system. there was a limit to how many games you could have on it at once too

sky3ds+ is closer to stargate with drag & drop compatibility, and all games should just work with downloading the latest gamelist.bin, and it has the advantage that every 3ds game works, unlike stargate

one more difference is that sky3ds keeps save data in eeprom, and only flushes to sd when switching to another game. stargate has save data copied to sd card right away instead. this can be a disadvantage for sky3ds because save data can be lost if you take out sd card without having first cycled between games to flush eeprom

the save data loss problem was a thing on the sky3ds blue button at least, the wikitemp page for the sky3ds+ mentions having to switch games to flush eeprom too but I dont know if save data handling is different there. it's possible sky3ds+ handles it better and remembers the last played game even if you removed the sd card, to prevent this kind of save data loss
