See if that Mac can boot USB Linux. Try torrenting with a smart phone. If you explain your situation at discordapp, r/3dshacks, here at GBAtemp, or even at those [..] sites, and somehow manage to discretely acquire frogcert.bin, that file is 2.09 MB with CRC32 hash 901ECE31. This is so you don't get a fake or bad one from anyone who wish to brick your 3DS.
i got it with my phone :) thanks

I did the finalizing setup (sorry it took so long, life happened) is there a next step?
Use Snes9x in either *.3dsx or *.cia. To explore other popular apps, refer to the starter kit or individual titles in the update changes log here. Watch that [Video Tutorial] if you're stuck on how to use Rosalina menu injected Homebrew Launcher.

Really want to play Tenshi No Uta but it just is not cooperating with me on the snes9x emulator. I guess I'll just have to play it on my laptop

Is this still being worked on?

Edit: Sorry about the edit, not thinking right

Snes9x for Old 3DS / 2DS Version 1.30 Released (24 Mar 2018)

While it has been over a year since the last update, that doesn't mean this is dead. Is true there has been a slowdown since everyone and their mother wants to release homebrew and so on for the Switch, but stuff for the 2DS/3DS still get updates.

That's one reason, but another likely reason is because Bubble hasn't been around for almost a year.

I've learned more about programming and I'll try to help occasionally by tweaking some UI elements, trying to add features, backporting changes from Libretro but I'm not skilled enough and I'm too busy with other projects to work at the pace that Bubble worked at. I'll try to help a little but I really don't have the time nor skill.

That sounds more like a lack of time than skill.

Is amazing how much the Nintendo homebrew stuff has grown.

For the DS it almost died even before the 3DS was released in partly due to the DS limitations.

For the 3DS we still get updates once in a while, despite how old the 3DS/2DS is.

And the Nintendo Switch seems to have hit the sweet spot the Sony PSP had because is getting hacking by the wazoo. While also being such a popular console.

To be honest, I really don't care much for Switch homebrew. I have a modded Wii U and it can do most of what Switch already does, I just hope they can squeeze as much from the N3DS as they can. I'm cynical about Switch because the methods in which to hack it are convoluted and non-permanent, not to mention the sheer no. of people having issues with bricked NAND, CFW not working, etc.

The Switch lacks a microphone and is barely powerful enough to emulate a DS decently.

Or you mean ports of 3DS games? Because the Switch has been getting those.

The the Switch has eveb been getting fan made ports of a lot of things.

And the Switch is a tablet with controllers and hardware slightly better than a PS4, no wonder so many want to hack it.

DS emulation needs dynarec to run full speed, and optimization. O3DS is incredibly weak for many emulators to be honest, 233 MHz ARM CPUs aren't that great, but the N3DS 800 MHz CPU is more than plenty. I just wish the methods to hack Switch weren't such a pain in the ass.

It's definitely been a long time guys. From time to time, I did drop by for a while, but I never really posted any reply. Have moved on to other things like really playing games and picking up AI and stuff. :rofl2:

Probably won't work too much on these emulators - this emulator is already in a good shape, at least that's what I feel.:D

If anyone's is willing to fork it and make their own changes and release it, by all means!

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
